09-28-1987 - Special u o CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 28, 1987 MINUTES Mayor Baugh called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the Community Center. He stated the items on the agenda: 1) Bills and Accounts, 2) Supplementary Bills and Accounts, and 3) Ratification of Labor Contracts for P.E.A., S.P.E.A., and P.B.A. ROLL CALL Mayor Earl Baugh Councilman Louis Rotundo Councilman Russell Prater Councilman Neil Asting Present Present Present Present Councilman David Mitchum Arrived Later City Attorney Jose' Alvarez Present City Clerk Connie Martinez Present Chief Lawrence Schumaker Present Councilman Mitchum arrived immediately after the roll call, at 7:02 P.M. Bills and Accounts - Councilman Rotundo moved to pay these bills. Councilman Prater seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0. Supplementary Bills and Accounts - City Clerk Martinez read the applicable memos from the Fire, Wastewater and Code Enforcement Departments as explanations for the bills being placed on the supplementary list. Councilman Asting moved to pay the supplemental bills and accounts. Councilman Prater seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0. Ratification of Labor Contracts for P.E.A.,S.P.E.A., and P.E.A. - City Clerk Martinez read the memos dated September 28, 1987, from Volusia County Public Employees Association and Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association which stated the employees had agreed 100% on the new Agreements. Councilman Asting moved that they accept the ratification of the labor contracts for P.E.A., S.P.E.A., and P.B.A. Councilman Rotundo seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0. Councilman Asting asked that the City send a letter of appreciation to Mr. James Inman for the splendid work he did on negotiating on behalf of the Council for these labor agreements. Mayor Baugh agreed. Councilman Asting pointed out this was done on a voluntary basis. City Clerk Martinez stated that the Executive Secretary is a confidential position and a Council motion is normally given to give her the same benefits as the other three bargaining units were just awarded. She added that the position is not eligible for membership in the Association. Councilman Asting so moved. Councilman Rotundo seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0. Mayor Baugh requested a motion to adjourn. Councilman Prater so moved. Councilman Rotundo seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned at 7:09 P.M.
