OLD BUSINESS
Christmas Parade Route
Mr. Corder stated that due to the construction on Indian River Boulevard, the parade
route for this year would definitely be changed. The new staging area will be at the
Edgewater Public School ballfields on Turgot Ave. From there the parade will proceed
north on Old County Road to Park Avenue, where it will turn west and go to Rotary Park,
where the parade will disperse.
It was asked if we would be purchasing new Christmas banners for this year, and Mr.
Corder replied no, due to the budget cuts. He stated they will put up the same as last
year, and some may be put in different locations, because of the road construction. He
stated they still have a live Christmas tree on hold from last year for the City Tree.
Museum Opening
Mr. Corder said the museum is really coming along fine and stated the official date for
the Grand Opening of the City Museum would be October 12th at 10:00 AM. There will
be tents set up, and refreshments served. Several dignitaries will be invited along with
the public. He stated he hopes to have a nice turn out.

Mr. Corder stated they are working on the sprinkler system now and will do the sprigging
and fencing after that. He hopes to have them completed by next summer. He said the
work would begin next week on the Library parking lot extension. He added new play
equipment was put up at Menard Park and some new equipment will be added to Whistle
Stop soon. He mentioned the upcoming Fall Festival at Rotary Park which will be on
October 26th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There will be music all day and a craft show,
along with a costume contest and free candy for the kids. There will be food also and the
Fire Dept. will be giving flu shots for $15.00, while they last. He said it should be a good
day for the families and hoped everyone would stop by.
Beautification Awards for September
The Board voted on the September nominations for a business and a residential award.
The winning business award was given to Nancy Freeman's State Farm office at 1015 S.
Ridgewood Avenue and the residential award was given to 121 E. Ocean Avenue.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mr. Corder said the Adopt-A-Median program would be coming before Council this
month. Mr. Visconti mentioned that Riverside Bank was interested in doing a median in
front of their business. Mr. Corder stated he had $10,000 in the budget for medians that
was lost due to the budget cuts and what is left has to be spent for pipes on the Boulevard
construction project. Mr. Visconti suggested a donation program for the City residents
whereby they could dontate $1.00 on the their water bill, to go towards beautification, as
it seems there will be no money allotted for this in the near future with all the latest cuts.
The Board liked the idea and agreed to come back with ideas next month on how this
could be implemented if Council liked the idea.
Mr. Visconti presented a sketch to the Board representing a memorial for September 11 th,
200 1. While the Board liked the idea, they did not feel it was something for this Board to
undertake, rather the Service organizations or the Police and Fire units.
Mr. Fishback stated he did some checking on the possibility of getting some kind of a
program going for students interested in playing musical instruments. He was told that
there are no such programs, the schools do not have any instruments, they rent them, and
there just is no money at all allotted to these programs any more.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Mr. Visconti moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Trout.
