2017-R-03 - I95 Interchange at Maytown RESOLUTION NO. 2017-R-03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA SUPPORTING THE NEW INTERSTATE 95 INTERCHANGE AT MAYTOWN ROAD; PROVIDING FOR THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT TO THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA AND THE STORCH LAW FIRM; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND ADOPTION. WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater desires to promote the construction of better transportation infrastructure to further economic growth and an increased standard of living in the City and throughout southeast Volusia County; and WHEREAS, the planned new interchange at the intersection of Interstate 95 (1-95) and Maytown Road should provide improved transportation interconnectivity in southeast Volusia County and create a new, more convenient access point for City residents and businesses to reach the west side of Volusia County and beyond via Maytown Road; and WHEREAS, due to the planned future development on the west side of I-95 within Farmton, Deering Park Center and Restoration: a new I-95 interchange at Maytown Road should reduce future traffic congestion at the Indian River Blvd. interchange with I-95; and WHEREAS, the new I-95 interchange at Maytown Road has been approved by the River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Oak Hill passed a Resolution supporting the new I-95 interchange at Maytown Road at its meeting on November 28. 2016; and WHEREAS, the new 1-95 interchange at Maytown Road should encourage economic growth in the City and southeast Volusia County by creating new opportunities for residents and Strik passages are deleted. 1 Underlined passages are added. 2017-R-03 businesses that rely on quick and convenient access to west Volusia County and the Orlando area. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. The City of Edgewater strongly supports the planned new Interstate 95 interchange at Maytown Road. Section 2. The City Council resolves to work together with all local, regional, state and federal governments and agencies, as well as the private sector, to promote, encourage and support the construction of the new I-95 interchange at Maytown Road. Section 3. City Council is hereby requesting the City Clerk transmit a copy of this Resolution to the County of Volusia and the Storch Law Firm. Section 4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
