11-09-1977 - Special ~ Q , I ( ~/ ~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER MEETING HELD November 9, 1977 Mayor Armstrong called the meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida to order at 4:00 P.M. November 9, 1977 in the Community Center following the General Election as set by the Charter. ROLL CALL Mayor Dana T. Armstrong Councilwoman Ryta F. Webber Councilman Carl Shell Councilman Walter B. Sikes Councilman Zone 4 City Attorney Judson Woods City Clerk Sue Blackwell Police Chief Earl Baugh Present Present Present Present Seat Vacant Present Present Present Mayor Armstrong announced that all City Council members were present or accounted for and turned the meeting over to the Election Board for the purpose canvassing the absentee ballots. The City Clerk announced they had 31 applications for absentee ballots and 29 were returned by the deadline. The City Clerk verified that all persons returning absentee ballots were registered electors listed by the Department of Elections in DeLand. The City Clerk announced the final vote tabulation as presented by the Election Board. Mr. Armstrong Mr. Christy Mr. Rotundo Mrs. Webber 566 746 719 581 The City Attorney read Resolution No. 743 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN EDGEWATER, FLORIDA ON NOVEMBER 8, 1977; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Sikes made a motion that the Council adopt the Resolution Councilwoman Webber seconded the motion. Mr. Opal (audience) asked that the City Attorney read sections of Resolution 193 also sections of the new Charter before a vote is taken. Mayor Armstrong stated that the chair would have to rule that this was not pertinent to the Resolution that was before the Council. Mr. Opal said he wanted to go on record as making a protest. Mayor Armstrong said let the record show that Mr. Opal protested the adoption of Resolution 743. Upon roll call the motion to adopt Resolution No. 743 CARRIED 4-0. o Q Mayor Armstrong congratulated the new Mayor and Councilman. Other members of the Council also congratulated the new Mayor and Councilman and Election Board on the fine job they had done. Councilwoman Webber made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
