OF MARCH 19, 1979.
TAPE Councilman Ledbetter: The Street Dept. has some obsolete equipment over there
2A-3 sitting around in the way, 1 Yager Cement Mixer needs motor part, 1971 3/5th
ton pick-up, I think it's a 3/4 ton, 318 V-8 engine somebody must have (the
tape is not audible). 2 rakes with 3 point heads with some of the teeth
knocked off it, 2 (not audible) Motoroloa radios (not audible) type, 1 bike
rack, 3 obsolete time clocks, and 1 old sowing machine.
Councilman Rotundo: Are they antique items? (not audible)
Councilman Ledbetter: I think some of them are antique.
Mayor Christy: Gentlemen, Mr. Sikes, I believe you have some ':: ~- equipment
over at City Hall you'd like to get rid of. Mr. Asting have you got anything
over there? What about you Mr. Rotundo? In the Police Dept., Fire Dept.,
Rescue?
Councilman Sikes:

Mr. Woods could this be given to the Fire Dept. to sell
Can any of this excess equipment be given to...
Mr. Woods: Generally I think welve advertized it for sale...
Councilman Sikes: Are we required to advertize it for sale, or can we, we
aren't probably talking about that much money, but the Fire Dept. subsidizes

Mr. Woods: I don't see anything, I don't think there can be anything wrong
with it. It's for the benefit of the Fire Dept. and the Fire Dept. benefits
the City of Edgewater.
Councilman Sikes: Dave,. ~ the trucks are about the only valuable thing
aren't they? And that's only worth what, junk price? $70.00?
,Mayor Christy: Well why don't you go out to the auction tomorrow?
Councilman Ledbetter: If I don't get a hundred dollars for it lid cry.
Mr. Woods: I don't see anything wrong with turning it over to the Fire Dept.
if they want it.
Councilman Sikes: If it's obsolete and if its not carried on our inventory
what do you call our asset. inventory? Do you have a dollar set, you have the
dollar at purchase (not audible)
Mayor Christy: It is on the inventory, all of those (not audible)
Councilman Sikes: But its carried on at the purchase price.
Councilman Ledbetter: (not audible) Policy which we can put it out for bids
and take the bids and put them back into General Government, and then if there';
is any surplus left over in it then the City can donate it to the Fire Dept.
Mayor Christy: like he also...

Mayor Christy: I think so, I think Mr. Ledbetter has a very good idea.and

Councilman Sikes: Get all the machines, get all the surface equipment and
all and advertise it for bids

Mayor Christy: You got anything over there Mr. Asting that you'd like to
throw into this pot?
Councilman Asting: What would you think about trading in some typewriters,
we would rather trade these in on...
Mayor Christy: Oh, you mean make a trade then on them ok, all~ight.

Councilman Sikes: You pay more for the advertisement which...
Mayor Christy: I know, that's why I'm trying to see how much I can get for
another one.
Councilman Sikes: I'd just post it on the board, bulletin boards.
Mayor Christy: Well they can give us a little lead angle. We discussed it
here at the Council meeting. Well what about having it come out (not audible)
Councilman ~ikes: Can we post it on the Board's bulletin boards around...
Mayor Christy: Yes, if the paper would like, I can give them a copy of it
too.
Councilman Ledbetter: Not audible
Councilman Rotundo: We asking for CETA?

Mayor"Christy: April the 9th is 3 or 4 weeks, no 1, 2, that would be 3 weeks
from today April the 9th. Have all those bids in by April, what about April
the 13th then we could have it on the 16th.
Councilman Sikes: You're gonna have to have Dave stand up there and auction
it off. You can't go out for bids on that stuff. Let Dave put on his hat
and auction it off,

Mayor Christy: Yo~ want to have a little auction here one night?

Councilman Sikes: I'd rather give it away.
Mayor Christy: Yea, but we can't just...

Councilman Rotundo: Why don't call some junk dealers down there and see if...
Mayor Christy: Why can't we get ahold of this auctioneer up here, what's his
name? What? Jim Hill and see what kind of deal we can work with him.
Councilman Ledbetter: Not audible.
Mayor Chri sty: It's Dave Se verance
Mr. Woods: Why don't you just solve all your problems (not audible) and have
it for sale'? So everybody doesn't come in here and start screaming, well you
didn't offer it to us.
Mayor Christy: Allright.
Councilman Ledbetter: I've seen that happen once before here and this old
pick-up truck didn't go out for bids and they sold it to a guy for $25.00 and
then the City had to go figure his $25.00 and get it back, or they sold it
for $35.00 and they had to go get it back and then he bought it, a bid for
$25.00.
Mr. Woods: Well, your .just asking for trouble when you don't go out on
competitive bidding or if your going to have some surplus, let everybody try to
buy it.

Mayor Christy: In otherwords let them come up and bid on it?
Mr. Woods: Yes
Mayor Christy: Alright then we will have a night when we will bid on it.
Mr. Nichols: Civil Defense Coordinator, the County went out and held this
auciton on this (not audible) property, they held an actual auction, cause I
was there.
Mayor Christy: Well you do that.
Mr. Nichols: I think you would probably get more if you go for an auction
rather than advertising.

on the say, the afternoon 1 :OO.P.M. on the 11th, that's on
April, over there at the garage. Alright? Any objections
Councilman Ledbetter: I donlt know who your going to get to auction.
Mayor Christy: Well, Illl talk to Mr. Hill and see if I can get him to come
over and do it. And do a little bidding and if he canlt, Illl get ahold of
Dave or live done it for the Fire Dept. I can still do it.
Councilman Ledbetter: Not audible.
Mayor Christy: Put a couple of little suspenders around my kneecaps and maybe
I... There will be an auction on April 11th at 1 :00 P.M. at the City garage.
Illl need a motion on that gentlemen.
Councilman Ledbetter: Illl make a motion that we hold an auction on this
surplus equipment, April 11th at 1 :00 P.M. at the City Garage.
Mayor Christy: Do I have a second to that motion?
Councilman Rotundo: I second that motion.
Mayor Christy: Seconded by Mr. Rotundo.

Mayor Christy: Auctioned, thatls right. Everything will be taken over there
