Q u ..0' , . , e Q - CITY OF EDGEWATER CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING August 12, 1980 CALL TO ORDER - Vice Mayor Rotundo called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Edgewater Community Center. ROLL CALL Mayor Robert H. Christy Councilman Louis J. Rotundo Councilman David C. Ledbetter Councilman James H. Cameron Councilman Neil J. Asting Deputy City Clerk Nancy Blazi Police Chief Earl Baugh Absent Present Present Present Present Present Present The purpose of the Meeting was to hear presentation~ py three cQnsulti~g engineering firms chosen by the Council as possible engineers for the City. The first presentation was by Briley Wild Associates of Ormond Beach, Florida, the City's present consulting engineering firm. Mr. Harry wild spoke to the Council and stated that Briley wild wished to with- draw their proposal and that a letter terminating the contract with the City would be sent later this week. Mr. wild cited past differences with the City and stated that Briley wild felt it would be in the best interest of the City to seek another firm, unless these differences could be resolved. All of the Council members at the meeting indicated that they have been satisfied with Briley Wild's overall performance in the past. There was only one member of the Council who seemed to be dissatisfied with their services. Vice Mayor Rotundo thanked Mr. Wild for talking with the Council. The second presentation was made by Boyle Engineering Corporation of Orlando, Florida by Mr. Donald A. Brown and Richard J. Coleman. They indicated the firm is experienced and because of their specialization in municipal engineering could aid the City in grant programs. Vice Mayor Rotundo thanked the representatives and advised them they would be notified of the City's decision. The final presentation was made by Dawkins and Associates of Orlando, Florida. Mr. Lowry Rockett, Frank Marshall and John Sikes, represen- tatives of the company, made the presentation, consisting of slides of the areas of Edgewater the company felt were prime targets for improvement. The company would provide a liaison to work with the City who lives in New Smyrna Beach and is familiar with the area. Vice Mayor Rotundo thanked the representatives and advised them they would be notified of the City's decision. After the presentations a discussion followed concerning the three engineering firms. Councilman Ledbetter made a motion that the Council authorize the City Clerk to contact Briley Wild Associates to set up a meeting on August 26, 1980 at 7:00 P.M. to discuss past differences and the possibility of a new contract. Councilman Asting seconded the motion and upon roll call the motion CARRIED 4-0. ~' o o Councilman Asting made a motton to adjourn. Councilman Ledbetter seconded the motion.
