ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE ASSESSING IN CRIMINAL PROCEED-
INGS, IN ADDITION TO ALL OTHER COSTS, AN
ADDITIONAL $2.00 TO BE USED FOR LAW EN-
FORCEMENT EDUCATION AND TRAINING: REPEAL-
ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND SETTING AN EFFECT-
IVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater desires to obtain the benefits
of Chapter 81-24 Laws of Florida to upgrade and strengthen its police
force through assessment of costs against persons convicted of crimes
for use in education and training of police officers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. There is hereby assessed by the City of Edgewater, in
compliance with section 943.25 (5), F. S., an additional TWO and N0/100
($2.00) dollars, as quick cost against every person convicted of
violating a state penal or criminal statue or convicted of violating
a municipal or county ordinance, where said offense occurred within
the City Limits of Edgewater. In addition, Two and No/100($2.00)dollars
shall be deducted from every bond estreature or forfeited bail bond
related to such penal statues or ordinances. However, no such assess-
ment shall be made against any person convicted of violating any
state statute,municipal or county ordinance relating to the parking
of vehicles. All such assessments shall be collected by the appro-
priate court and shall be remitted to the City of Edgewater, Florida,
and earmarked for criminal justice education and training for members
of the Edgewater Police Department. The use and expenditure of such
funds shall be in accordance with education and trianing programs
for law enforcement personnel as determined by the Chief of Police
and in accordance with section 943.14 (4), F. S.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
hrerewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon its
adoption.
The first reading of said Ordinance itsread,in full and passed by
vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a re-
gular meeting of said Council held on the 2 day of, 1981,
and approved as provided by law.
The second reading of said Ordinance to be at a meeting
