82-R-20RESOLUTION NO. 82-R-91Q A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VOLUSIA COUNTY COUNCIL AND SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO PRO- VIDE AN ADDITIONAL PRECINCT AND POLLING PLACE WITHIN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HERE- WITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater is one voting precinct which contains nearly 4,000 registered voters, same being the second largest voting precinct within Volusia County, Florida, and WHEREAS, the average precinct size in Volusia County is less than 1,000 voters, and WHEREAS, at the last general election, Edgewater's citizens were required to stand in line for several hours in order to cast their ballots, and WHEREAS, the Florida Shores Property Owners Association has graciously offered its Club House on Lime Tree Drive in Florida Shores to be used as a second polling place within the City of Edgewater, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Edgewater does call upon the Super- visor of Elections and the Volusia County Council to equally divide the City of Edgewater into two voting precincts as a convenience to our citizens. SECTION 2. That the Florida Shores Homeowners Association has offered its Club House located at 2932 Lime Tree Drive, in Florida Shores as a second voting place within the City of Edgewater, Florida, same being convenient to residence of Florida Shores and adequate for the responsibility to be placed upon it. SECTION 3. That the City of Edgewater, Florida, does request this action to be done prior to the 1982 elections. SECTION 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in con- flict herewith be and same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided by law.
