AN ORDINANCE SETTING FORTH A VACATION
POLICY AND SCHEDULE FOR FULL TIME EM-
PLOYEES OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VO-
LUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA: AND SETTING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That full time employees of the City of Edgewater,
Florida shall receive paid vacation leave based on the following
periods of employment with said City:
Less than 1 year 0 work days
1 - 5 years 10 work days
6 years and over 15 work days
SECTION 2. That for the purpose of calculating accrued vacation
time, the date of employment by the City shall be the date the
employee begins his employment and on each year's anniversary
date thereafter said employee shall be deemed to have worked
a full year. No employee shall be entitled to vacation time
without having first completed a full year's employment, ex-
cept that the City Council shall have the right to make excep-
tions thereto if said employee has substantially completed a
full year's employment.
SECTION 3. A minimum of one half of accrued vacation time
shall be taken within any given anniversary period. The re-
maining portion of the accrued vacation time may be carried
into the following work year or compensation may be received
in an amount not to exceed one half of the accrued vacation
time.
The taking of any vacation time accrued which is in excess
of the vacation time alotted for any one anniversary period
mast be approved by the appropriate department head and City
Manager
SECTION 4. Upon termination an employee shall be paid for any
unused portion of accrued vacation time which shall be prorated
on a monthly basis from the last anniversary date.
SECTION 5. Vacation time may be used for illness only after
having exhausted all accrued sick leave.
SECTION 6. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances and all
Resolutions and parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. That this Ordinance shalt take effect immediately
upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
SECTION B. The City Clerk shall advertise this Ordinance as
required by law.
The first reading of the above Ordinance was read in full and
passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 2nd
day of December, 1974, and approved as provided by law.
The second reading of this Ordinance to be at a regular meeting
of the City Council to be held on the 9th day of January , 1975.
