79-R-27• RESOLUTION NO. 2q-K- a7 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS TO INCLUDE THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, IN ITS APPLI- CATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR LOCAL PLAN- NING ASSISTANCE FUNDS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1979. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has recognized certain problems in the community which relate to planning and management, and WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Planning Assistance Program administered by the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs offers the opportunity to strengthen the community development practices through the conduct of a planning program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. The City of Edgewater, Florida, officially requests the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs to include the City of Edgewater in its application to the United States Housing and Urban Development for local planning assistance funds for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1979. SECTION 2. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect immed- iately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, as provided by law. The first reading of the Resolution was read in full and passed by a vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 42-211 day of 1979, and approved as provided by law. -I �� �� Councilman .Coup .:.... Although it is expected that our Comprehensive Plan will be completed this year, 701 Funds for 1979-1980 may be available for implementing the recommendations of the Plan. This preapplication must be signed by the Mayor and must be accompanied by a resolution from the City Council requesting consideration of the preapplication (a sample resolution is attached). This grant requires a one-third (1/3) match by the local government if our program is funded, however, this preapplication in no way obligates the City to accept funds or appropriate local matching funds.
