79-R-48. r � *449pr RESCLUTION NO. %i- (?- -(q �40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, OPPOSING A COUNTY BEACH AUTHORITY; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Volusia County Council has initiated discussions about the creation of a county -wide Beach Authority, and WHEREAS, said Authority, according to published accounts, would create a separate county governmental jurisdiction along the beaches of Volusia County, and WHEREAS, the purpose of said Authority is to provide uniform laws along the beaches for vehicular traffic, alcoholic beverages and so on, and WHEREAS, a toll for vehicles using the public beaches is proposed to raise funds for paying the cost of lifeguards and other costs; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Edgewater, Florida, strongly opposes the creation of such a separate governmental agency which is viewed as a removal of the basic authority of cities to control and provide services within their jurisdiction. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed to send this Resolution to the Volusia County Council and the State Legislative Delegation. SECTION 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, and approval as provided by law. The first reading of the Resolution was read in full and passed by a vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the g, c76 day of 1+2 1979, and approved as provided by law.
