APPROVAL OR CHANGES/MODIFICATIONS TO THE AGENDA Nothing at this time. 6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS Councilman Conroy reported; attending Wreaths Across America and enjoying the holidays. Mayor Ignasiak reported; attending the SAL dinner on the 6th, the Edgewater Christmas Parade, the Mayors breakfast, the Wreaths Across America Ceremony, light up City Hall, the county round table meeting, Employee appreciation breakfast, the Rotary Club Christmas party and the South East Volusia Chamber of Commerce Christmas party The Mayor also helped promote the city in a new Rails to Trails video. Councilwoman Power reported; attending the TPO meeting and due to lack of support the raise above 10%has been put off indefinitely and also the Volusia League of Cities advocacy team meeting. Councilman Blazi reported; attending the Edgewater Christmas Parade and reported a concerned citizen complaint on a high water bill due to a misread water meter. 7. CONSENT AGENDA d. AR-2017-3125 Authorization for purchase of Stryker Power-Pro Stretcher and loading system for Rescue Unit Number 57 Councilman Blazi requested to pull Agenda item 7.d.for discussion. A motion was made by Councilwoman Power, second by Councilman Blazi, to authorize the purchase of the Stryker Power-Pro Stretcher system. City Clerk City Clerk Robin Matusick reminded everyone of some upcoming dates and events. The Prince/Princess Ball from 6-9PM at the YMCA on January 20th; The Volusia League of Cities dinner at Daytona Beach Shore on January 25th; Save the Date Volusia County Address on January 22nd at the Ocean Center; The Ethics course will be February 23rd at the Edgewater Council Chambers 8:30AM-12PM, Our next Council Meeting will be February 5th at 6:30PM and a Stormwater Workshop on February 12th at 6:30PM. b. City Attorney City Attorney Arron Wolfe Discussed a tentative settlement in the amount of$95,000 on a lawsuit that was filled against the City in 2014. A motion was made by Councilman Conroy, second by Councilwoman Power, to approve paying the Settlement in the matter of Ricky Walls in the amount of $95,000. City Manager City Manager Tracey Barlow reminded everyone of some upcoming events. The Boston Whaler Ground Breaking January 16th and the Solid Waste Workshop on March 22 at 6:30PM He also discussed sending polling information on the.5 cent sales tax. 12. CITIZEN COMMENTS Chuck Martin, 205 Cherrywood Lane: Discussed wanting something done about the parking violations in the Florida Shores. City of Edgewater Page 9 Printed on 1/12/2018 City Council Meeting Minutes January 8, 2018 Joann Lippold, 2424 Umbrella Tree Dr: Discussed making an exception for 1 month out of the year to allow families to visit during the holidays without having to worry about parking violations. Dave Kneiszler, 2319 Unity Tree Drive: Discussed the negative effects of getting larger garbage trucks and stated his concerns about the lack of parking in the Florida Shores. Frank Morris, 3132 Queen Palm Dr: Stated that he did not see any flyers informing the residents of when holiday trash pickup would be. Also he feels that the city should contract out garbage pickup and the funds saved should go to paving sidewalks throughout Florida Shores. Cindy Black, Umbrella Tree Drive: Discussed feeling awkward after being approached by a trash pickup employee that solicited her to write a statement to the city stating what a great job our solid waste removal workers do.
