84-R-32w RESOLUTION NO. 84-R-32 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, APPOINTING DOUGLAS W. BETTS AS CHIEF OF POLICE FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, CON- TAINING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 39 of the Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida, DOUGLAS W. BETTS is hereby appointed as Chief of Police of the City of Edgewater, Florida. SECTION 2. The DOUGLAS W. BETTS as Chief of Police of the City of Edgewater, Florida, will serve pursuant to all the rights, duties, obligations and responsibilities as set forth in the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Edgewater, Florida, and the laws of the United States of America and the State of Florida. SECTION 3. That DOUGLAS W. BETTS 's appointment is contingent upon the following terms and conditions of employment: 1. The satisfactory result of a full field and background investigation. 2. The successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period as determined by the City Council of Edgewater, Florida. 3. The Chief of Police will serve at the will of the City Council. 4. The annual salary shall be Twenty two thousand five hundred ($22,500.00) Dollars. No overtime. In addition: a) The use of a city automobile on a 24 hour basis limited to City business only; b) Hospitalization insurance, vacation, sick leave, retirement and other fringe benefits as applicable to other department heads. 5. A yearly evaluation for the purpose of considering salary and other benefit increases, to be conducted by the City Council beginning August 1, 1985. 6. Termination of the appointment shall be by thirty (30) days written notification from either party. If the City Council chooses to terminate the applicant at any time after the probationary period, the thirty (30)days written notification shall provide written reasons and afford an opportunity for the Chief to be heard. That this resolution shall take effect +rrrnedietely upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 16th day of July ,1984, and approved as provided by law. The first reading of the Resolution was read in full and passed by a vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 16thday of July ,1984, and approved as provided by law.
