84-R-56RESOLUTION NO. 84-R-56 A RESOLUTION OF THE CRY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, APPOINTING DOUGLAS W. BETTS AS CHIEF OF POLICE FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; CONTAINING TERMS AND CON- DITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CRY COUNCIL OF THE CRY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 39 of the Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida, DOUGLAS W. BETTS is hereby appointed as Chief of Police of the City of Edgewater, Florida. SECTION 2. That DOUGLAS W. BETTS as Chief of Police of the City of Edgewater, Florida, will serve pursuant to all the rights, duties, obligations and respon- sibilities as set forth in the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Edgewater, Florida, and the laws of the United States of America and the State of Florida. SECTION 3. That DOUGLAS W. BETT's appointment is made upon the following terms and conditions of employment: 1. The annual salary shall be Twenty Two Thousand Five Hundred ($22,500.00) Dollars. No overtime. In addition: a) The use of a city automobile on a twenty-four (24) hour basis related to City business. b) Hospitalization insurance, vacation, sick leave, retirement and other fringe benefits as applicable to other department heads. 2. A yearly evaluation for the purpose of considering salary and other benefit increases, to be conducted by the City Council beginning November 19, 1985. 3. Termination of this appointment shall be for cause only, said cause being malfeasance, misfeasance or nonfeasance, after written charges specifying the reasons therefor and an opportunity to refute said charges at a hearing that shall afford procedural due process. SECTION 4. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, pFlorida, at a meeting of said Council held on the )9 day of vg yK , 1984, and approved as provided by law.
