A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE FLORIDA STATE DEPART-
MENT OF TRANSPORTATION, M.P.O., THE VOLUSIA COUNCIL
OF GOVERNMENTS AND THE VOLUSIA COUNTY COUNCIL TO
MODIFY AND/OR INSTALL TRAFFIC CONTROL LIGHTS AT THE
INTERSECTIONS OF U.S. #1 and STATE ROAD 442 (INDIAN
RIVER BOULEVARD),U.S. #1 AND OCEAN AVENUE, U.S. #1
AND PARK AVENUE, U.S. #1 AND MAGNOLIA AVENUE; PRO-
VIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF COSTS FOR SAID TRAFFIC
LIGHTS; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater has experienced substantial in-
creases in the volume of traffic along its principal highways, and,n.
WHEREAS, this increase in traffic primarily involves movements
from outside the City to and from Interstate 95 and County Roads, and
WHEREAS, the modernization of the traffic light installation at
Park Avenue and U.S. #1 and the addition of several new traffic light
installations is believed necessary for safe and efficient vehicular
movement within the City; and
WHEREAS, all of the traffic light installations discussed herein
are at the intersections involving either State or County maintained
roads; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and in keeping with present policies
of the State and County that State primary road funds and State secondary
road funds administered by the County of Volusia be used to pay the
costs of modernization and construction of these traffic light install-
ations where non -City maintained streets are involved and State primary
road funds and City funds are used to pay the costs of installations at
intersections involving State maintained and City maintained streets,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the Department of Transportation, M.P.O., V.C.O.G.
and Volusia County Council of Volusia County, Florida, are hereby requested
to arrange for the modernization of the traffic light installation at
the intersection of U.S. #1 and Park Avenue and to further arrange for
the construction of traffic control light installations at the follow-
ing intersections and in the order of priority listed:

1. U.S. #1 and SR 442 (Indian River Boulevard)
2. U.S. #1 and entrance or exit to Magnolia
3. U.S. #1 and Ocean Avenue
SECTION 2. That the cost of all work is hereby requested to be
paid from either State primary road funds or from State secondary road
funds administered by the County or from a combination thereof.
SECTION 3. That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in con-
flict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided by law.
The first reading of the Resolution was read in full and passed
by a vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a
Regular meeting of said Council held on the '� day of February,
1980, and approved as provdied by law.
