ORDINANCE NO. 724
AN ORDINANCE SETTING FORTH A MANDATORY
AGE OF RETIREMENT FOR ALL FULL TIME OR
PART-TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; REQUIRING ANY AND
ALL PROSPECTIVE CITY EMPLOYEES TO
UNDERGO A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AS A
PREREQUISITE TO EMPLOYMENT BY THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; PROVIDING THAT
THE CITY SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO REQUIRE
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION OF ANY EMPLOYEE AT
ANY TIME DURING HIS OR HER COURSE OF
EMPLOYMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That any and all employees of the City
of Edgewater, Florida, whether employed full time or
part-time, shall be required to retire from said employment
upon attaining the age of seventy years.
SECTION 2. That the City Council shall have the right
to require of any presently employed employee or any
prospective employee, be it full time or part-time, to
furnish adequate proof of age to the City Council.
SECTION 3. That any and all applicants by the City of
Edgewater, Florida, whether for full time employment or
13 part-time employment, shall undergo a physical examination
by a physician duly licensed to practice in the State of
Florida as a prerequisite to employment by the City of Edge-
water, Florida, and the cost of same shall be borne by the
applicant for employment. Findings of said physical
examination shall be done on a form approved by or furnished
by the City of Edgewater, Florida.
SECTION 4. That at any time during the course of
employment the City Council shall have the right to require
any employee, whether full time or part-time, to undergo a
physical examination by a physician duly licensed to practice
in the State of Florida; provided however, that the results
of findings of said physical examination shall,be done on a
form approved by or furnished by the City of Edgewater,
Florida, and further provided that the city shall pay for
said physical examination.

SECTION 5. That Ordinance No. 688 and Ordinance No.
689 be and they are hereby repealed and all other Ordinances
or parts of Ordinances or Resolutions and parts of Resolutions
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That this Ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and
approval by the Mayor.
The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by vote
of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a
regular meeting of said Council held on the 6th day of
December A.D., 1971.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the
requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading
was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final
passage.
Passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edge -
inter, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on
the 6th day of December A.D., 1971, and approved as provided
by law; the vote of said Council being as follows:
