695ORDINANCE NO. 695 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 684 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF FULL TIME REGULAR POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CALCULATING ACCRUED VACATION TIME AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: 2 SECTION 1. That Section/of Ordinance No. 684 shall be amended to read as follows: SECTION 2. That all full time Police Dispatchers for the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be entitled to (5) paid vacation days per year after said Police dispatcher has been employed as a full time time Police Dispatcher by the City for One (1) year. No police officer or police dispatcher shall be entitled to any vacation period unless and until said policeman or dis- patcher has completed the required full year's duty as a regular full time policeman or dispatcher, except that the City Council may make exception upon just cause. A full time patrolman or police officer for the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be defined as one who works an average minimum of forty (40) hours per week during the year. A full time police dispatcher shall be defined as one who works an average minimum of forty (40) hours per week during the year. For the purpose of calculating accrued vacation time, the date of employment by the City shall be the date the police officer or dispatcher begins his employment. All vacation leaves must be used during the year immediately following the anniversary date for which vacation time has accrued or else said police officer or dispatcher shall lose the vacation time to which he would normally have been entitled. No police officer or dispatcher shall be paid for any vacation unless he actually uses said leave from his employment from the City of Edgewater, Florida. Any police officer or dispatcher desiring to take vacation leave must first clear said vacation period with the Chief of Police and obtain his permission prior to taking said vacation. Any sickness during the police officer's or dispatcher's vacation period may not be charged to sick leave. Any police officer or dispatcher who quits prior to accruing vacation time shall not be entitled to any vacation pay as severance pay, or otherwise. Upon the termination of employment of any police officer or police dispatcher by the City of Edgewater, Florida said employee shall be due as severance pay any accrued vacation time. SECTION 2. That all other sections and parts of Ordinance No. 684 that are not specifically amended herein shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect September 1, 1971. The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at auu��ggregular meeting of said Council held on the 2nd day of A.41;tA.D., 1971. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
