PROCLAMATION
A PROCLAMATION CALLING A REGULAR ELECTION FOR
NOVEMBER 3, 1970 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING
COUNCILMEN FROM EACH OF ZONES 2 and 4; CALLING
A PRIMARY ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, FOR OCTOBER
20, 1970 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILLING THE OFFICES
OF COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 2 AND ZONE 4; PROVIDING
THAT EACH CANDIDATE FOR COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 2
AND FROM ZONE 4 MAY PICK UP HIS OR HER PETITION
FROM THE CITY CLERK ANY TIME BEGINNING SEPTEMBER
`�, 1970; PROVIDING FURTHER THAT SAID PETITIONS
SHALL BE FILED BY EACH OF SAID CANDIDATES WITH
THE CITY CLERK NO LATER THAN 4 P.M. ON SEPTEMBER
23, 1970; PROVIDING FURTHER THAT EACH CANDIDATE
MUST FILE HIS OR HER ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH CANDIDACY,
TOGETHER WITH HIS OR HER AFFIDAVIT TO THE EFFECT
THAT HE OR SHE IS OUALIFIED TO VOTE AT SUCH ELECTION,
WITH THE CITY CLERK NO LATER THAN 4 P.M. ON OCTOBER
2, 1970; PROVIDING FURTHER THAT THIS PROCLAMATION
SHALL BE POSTED IN TWO PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, ONE OF WHICH SAID PUBLIC
PLACES SHALL BE THE BULLETIN BOARD OF THE CITY
HALL, THE FIRST POSTING TO BE NOT LESS THAN THIRTY
DAYS PRIOR TO OCTOBER 20, 1970 AND PROVIDING THAT
SAID POSTING SHALL ALSO BE DONE NOT LESS THAN
THIRTY DAYS PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 3, 1970; PROVIDING
THAT SAID ELECTION OR ELECTIONS SHALL BE HELD IN
THE COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, PROVIDING THAT A COPY
OF THIS PROCLAMATION BE TRANSMITTED BY THE CITY
CLERK TO THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS FOR VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA; AND FURTHER PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE THEREFOR.
ME IT PROCLAIMED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGE -
WATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That a regular election is hereby called
for November 3, 1970 for the purpose of electing Councilmen
from Zone 2 and from Zone 4 of the City of Edgewater,
Volusia County, Florida.
SECTION 2. That a primary election, if necessary,
is hereby called for October 20, 1970 for the purpose of
filling the offices of Councilmen from Zone 2 and Zone 4
in the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida.
SECTION 3. That any candidate for the office of Council-
man from either Zone 2 or Zone 4 may pick up his or her
petition from the City Clerk at any time beginning September
#, 1970.
SECTION 4. That each said candidate for the office
of Councilman from Zone 2 and from Zone 4 shall file said
petition with the requisite number of signatures with the
City Clerk of the City of Edgewater, Florida no later than
4 P.M. on Septembe3¢ 3, 1970; each candidate must
file his or her acceptance to such candidacy for
the office of Councilman from Zone 2 and from Zone 4,
together with his or her affidavit to the effect that
he or she is qualified to vote at said election, no
later than 4 P.M. on October 2, 1970, if there is to
be a primary election, and if there is not to be a
primary election then such acceptances and affidavits
shall be filed no later than 4 P.M. on October 16,
1970. All such acceptances and affidavits shall be
filed with the City Clerk of the City of Edgewater,
Florida.
SECTION 5. If there is not to be a primary election,
this Proclamation shall be posted in two public places
in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one of which said
public places shall be the bulletin board at the
Edgewater City Hall, the first of said postings to
be not less than thirty (30) days prior to November
3, 1970. In the event there is to be a primary election
then this Proclamation shall be posted in two public
places in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one of which

the first said posting to be not less than thirty (30)
days prior to October 20, 1970.
SECTION 6. That all elections herein provided
for shall be held in the Community Center in the City
of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk be and she is
hereby authorized to transmit forthwith a copy of this
Proclamation to the Supervisor of Elections for Volusia
County, Florida.
SECTION 8. That this Proclamation shall take
effect immediately upon its passage and adoption by
the City Council and approval by the Mayor.

The above and foregoing Proclamation was presented
by Councilman Ledbetter who moved its adoption,
said motion being seconded by Councilman Dietz ,
and upon roll call vote said Proclamation was duly
declared adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Edgewater, Florida held on the 17th day of
August, 1970, the vote of said Council upon roll call
being as follows:
