660C O O D ORDINANCE NO._6_6Q_ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4. B. AND SECTION 4. D. AND AMENDING SECTION 5. A. OF ORDINANCE NO. 539 OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, IN- CREASING THE CONNECTION CHARGES BASED UPON METER SIZE FOR WATER SERVICE, DECREASING THE SERVICE CHARGE UPON RESUMPTION OF WATER SERVICE AND DELETING ANY PROVISION WHEREBY THE CITY IS OBLIGATED TO PAY FOR THE FIRST 100 FEET OF WATER PIPING TO PROPERTY WHEN SO REQUESTED AND PROVIDING THAT THE PERSON REQUESTING WATER SERVICE SHALL BEAR THE FULL COST OF THE EXTENSION OF ANY EXISTING WATER SERVICE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That Section 4. B. of Ordinance No. 539 of the City of Edgewater, Florida be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 4. B. CONNECTION CHARGES. The following connection charges shall be required for each connection made to the water system inside the city limits: Meter Size Connection Charge 3/4" $-. 75.00 1" 120.00 2" 250.00 3" and over Cost of labor and material plus 20% SECTION 2. That Section 4. D. of Ordinance No. 539 of the City of Edgewater, Florida be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 4. D. DISCONTINUANCE OF WATER SERVICE. In the case of discontinuance of water service because of vacated property, then there shall be a charge of Five ($5.00) Dollars to resume water service. Said charge shall apply to each occupancy unit or commercial or industrial entity whether standing alone or incorporated in a building or buildings containing multiple occupancy units and/or commercial or industrial entities. SECTION 3. That Section 5. A. of Ordinance No. 539 of the City of Edgewater, Florida be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 5. E%TENSION OF WATER SERVICE. A. When an extension to the water distribution and supply system is requested inside the city limits on existing dedicated streets, the following extension policyAapplies: When water service is requested beyond the limits of the present distribution system, the Water Department may install an adequate main, the size and diameter to be de.termined by the City Engineer, to the property, provided however, that the person or firm so requesting the extension shall bear the entire cost of said extension, which said cost shall include all in- cidental costs, including engineering charges, and shall be paid in advance based upon an estimate adopted by the City. The cost of such extension shall be calculated upon the basis of a 2" main being used, whether a 2" main is used or not. The City agrees to reimburse the person requesting such service in an amount equal to 20% of the amount of their annual water bill, and in addition, 20% of the water bill of such person or persons as may from time to time connect to the city water system between the point of connection and the main and the point of his service, provided that these payments shall be made only until the cost therefor have been reimbursed in full or for a period not exceeding ten (10) years, whichever occurs first, and provided further that the water services and appurtenances shall become and remain the property of the Water Department at the date of original construction. This extension policy shall not apply outside of the city limits. SECTION 4. That all parts of Ordinance No. 539 that are not in conflice with the provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect; provided -2- b 6,() however, that all parts of Ordinance No. 539 or any other Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 6th day of April A.D., 1970. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second read- ing was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
