2018-R-19 - Final Operating Millage RESOLUTION 2018-R-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, ADOPTING FINAL OPERATING WLLAGE RATES FOR THE CITY FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING PROVISIONS, SEVERABILITY AND APPLICABILITY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Florida Statutes, including Section 200.065, provide that the City Council shall adopt a tentative millage rate prior to the adoption of a tentative budget;and, WHEREAS,the Volusia County Property Appraiser has certified the gross taxable value of property within the City of Edgewater as $951,480,627 and has certified a rolled-back rate of $6.1572 per$1,000 of taxable value for the City of Edgewater; and WHEREAS, October 1, 2018 is the commencement of the fiscal year for the City of Edgewater; and WHEREAS, on September 10, 2018 a public hearing was held on the tentative millage rate of$6.70 mills for fiscal year 2018-2019 and all persons desiring to voice objection or make comment upon said millage rate were given an opportunity to do so; and WHEREAS,on September 24, 2018, a public hearing was held on the final millage rate for fiscal year 2018-2019 and all persons desiring to voice objections or to make comment upon said millage were given an opportunity to do so. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,FLORIDA: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, deems it necessary to levy and does hereby levy a tax of$6.70 mills upon all real and personal property, railroads,telegraph and telephone lines within the City of Edgewater for operational purposes. Section 2: The fiscal year 2018-2019 operating millage rate is $6.70 mills, which is greater than the rolled back rate of 6.1572 mills by 8.82%. Section 3.
