AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 261
RELATING TO FENCES AND HEDGES IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA; PROHIBITING BARBED WIRE FENCE OR LIKE MATERIAL;
AND SETTING FORTH MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE HEIGHT FOR STONE,
ROCK OR WOODEN FENCES AND HEDGES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 261 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Section 1. Fences and Hedges. The erection of a barbed wire
fence or material of similar nature is hereby prohibited.
However, orange groves and farm lands may be completely enclosed
by an open wire fence not to exceed a maximum of five (5) feet.
It shall not be unlawful to place or erect an open wire or
wooden fence along the front, the side, or the back of any lot,
provided however that no open wire or wooden fence shall exceed
the heighthof five (5) feet and provided further, however, that
no open wire or wooden fence fronting on a street or alley, and
for a distance of thirty (30) feet back therefrom shal]4exceed
the height of four (4) feet.
It shall not be unlawful to erect or maintain a closed wooden
fence or hedge along the front, side or back of any lot, provided
however, that the said closed wooden fence or hedge shall not
exceed the heighthof four (4) feet, provided further, however,
that any closed wooden fence or hedge fronting along a street
or alley, and for a distance of thirty feet back therefrom, shall
fey' exceed the heighth of three (3) feet.
Section 2. That any violation of the preceding section shall
subject that person, upon conviction thereof, to the penalties
provided for in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordina�ncce®��
City of Edgewater, Florida.

Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
The foregoing ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of
the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular
meeting held on July 3, 1967. Upon motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon
second reading was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon
final passage.
Passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on July 3,
1967, and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council
being as follows:
