532ORDINANCE NO. 532 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE FLORIDA CIVIL DEFENSE ACT, CHAPTER 62875, LAWS OF FLORIDA, 1951 FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida has determined that it would be in the best interest of the public to provide a local organization for civil defense in order to provide effective and orderly governmental control and coordination of emergency operations in disasters resulting from enemy attack, threat of enemy attack., sabotage or other hostile action, and WHEREAS, W. H. Cairnie of the City of Edgewater, Florida has heretofore been designated and appointed as Director of the local organization for civil defense,and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida to implement the civil defense program of the City of Edgewater, Florida so as to coordinate it with similar state and county organizations and functions. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Florida Civil Defense Act as enacted by Chapter 26875, Laws of Florida, 1951, and as set forth in Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, be and the same is hereby adopted by the City of Edgewater, Florida. Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on March 20, 1967, Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
