AN ORDINANCE CREATING SCHOOL ZONES ON CERTAIN
STREETS IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA, Ai4D PROVIDING FOR THE ERECTION
OF SIGNS TO INDICATE SUCH ZONES, AND jF1G
FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That that portion of Park Avenue lying between
the intersection of Park Avenue and Riverside Drive, and the inter-
section of Park Avenue and the prolongation of the Westerly boundary
line of that certain building known as the United States Post Office,
and that certain portion of U. S. Highway No. 1 lying between the
intersection of said Highway and Lamont Street and the intersection
of said Highway and Palm Way, are hereby designated as school zones.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person to operate
a motor vehicle in the aforesaid described areas at a speed in
excess of fifteen miles per hour during school hours.
SECTION 3. The Police Department of said City of Edgewater,
Florida, is hereby authorized and directed to erect signs indicat-
ing the above described areas and the speed as aforesaid.
SECTION That any person, firm or corporation violating
any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not more than
`_25.00 nor confined not more than s days or both, at the
discretion of the Municipal Judge.
SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same hereby are repealed.
SECTION 6. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meet-
ing held on September 8, 1959.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement
of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived and the
ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
