AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING MANDATORY CONNECTION
WITH THE WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OF THE CITY
JF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
WHEREAS, It is necessary for the health, welfare and
of the people of the City of Edgewater, Florida that all water f
human consumption and use therein shall be sanitary and fit for
human use, and this can be controlled most conveniently through the
Water Distribution System of the City of Edgewater, Florida, now,
therefore,
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the owner, tenant or occupant of each lot or
parcel of land within the City of Edgewater which abuts upon a
street or other public way containing a water distribution line
served by the Water Distribution System of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, or abutting upon a street or other public way wherein a
water distribution line of the Water Distribution System of the
City of Edgewater, Florida may be not more than one hundred feet
from the closest point of abutment, and upon which lot or parcel
of land a building has been or shall be constructed for residential,
commercial or industrial use, shall be connected with and supplied
with water from the Water Distribution System of the City of
Edgewater, Florida, not later than February 1, 1959, or prior to
occupancy of said building If said building be erected after
January 1, 1959. The owner, tenant or occupant may continue to
use a private well for purposes other than sanitary purposes and

; for all other purposes the owner, tenant or occupant shall
supply said building exclusively from the Water Distribution System
of the City of Edgewater, Florida.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any owner, tenant,
occupant or other person to occupy or use any building not connected
with the Water Distribution System of the City of Edgewater in accord-
ance with Section 1 hereof, and each days occupancy of such building

not connected with the Water Distribution System of the City of
Edgewater, Florida, shall be a separate offence, and any person,
upon conviction thereof,shall be fined not exceeding Ten Dollars
for each offense, or imprisoned for not more than five days for
each offense, or both, in the discretion of the Municipal Judge.
SECTION 3• All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be, and the same hereby are repealed.
SECTION This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its passage and approval of the Mayor.
SECTION 5. When the Water Distribution System of the City of
Edgewater is or may be extended subsequent to January 1, 1959,
each owner, tenant or occupant becoming subject to Section 1 of this
ordinance shall have thirty (30) days to comply with Section 1 hereof.
SECTION 6. Should any word, syllable, phrase, section or para-
graph of this ordinance be held unconstitutional for any reason, the
same shall not invalidate any other part of this ordinance.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, ata regular meeting
on the 21st day of July, A. D. 1958•
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the
requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived
and the ordinance was put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of theCity of Edgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said council held on the 21st day of
July, A.D. 1958, and approved as provided by law, the vote of said
council on roll call being as follows:
