AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE ABANDONMENT OF
ICEBOXES, REFRIGERATORS AND OTHER CONTAINERS 10
HAVING AIRTIGHT DOORS WrIICH, WHEN CLOSED,
CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE, AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOIATION THEREOF.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
or corporation to allow any used icebox, container or refrigerator
with an interior storage area of more than one and one-half cubic
feet of clear space, having airtight doors, which, when closed,
cannot be opened from the inside, to remain on his property or
property under his control, or to discard or abandon same, PROVIDED
THAT this shall not apply to an icebox, containor or refrigerator
which is crated,or is secure from the outside, or from which the
locking device or door or hinges have been removed, or is in normal
use in a home, rental unit or place of business.
SECTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation violating any
provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not more than $ 7.
or confined for not more than 11 days, or both, at the discretion
of the municipal judge. Each day such violation is committed or
permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall
be punishable as such hereunder.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same hereby are repealed.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and approval of the Mayor.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of
the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular
meeting held on the 20th day of January, A. D. 1958.

Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement
of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived and the
ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 20th day
of January, A. D. 1958, and approved as provided by law, the vote
of said council being as follows:
