AN ORDINANCE DEFINING MASTER PLUMBER, JOURNEY'CAN
PLUMBER AND MAINTENANCE PLUMBER, AND PRESCRIBING
OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES FOR SAID OCCUPATIONS, AND
PROVIDING FOR EXAMINATION: TO BE HELD FOR SAID
OCCUPATIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE: PEOPLE. OF THE: CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLOHIDA:
Section 1: The terms Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber and Maintenanoe
Plumber, are defined as follows:
(a) The term Master Plumber as used in this ordinance shall
be held to mean a Everson who possesses the necessary nUall-
fications and supervises the Installation or repair of gas
or water pipes, septic tanks, baths or other sanitary and
fire preventative apparatus for homes and other buildings.
(b) The term Journeyman Plumber as used in this ordinance
shall be held to mean a person who possesses the necessary
qualifications, training and technical knowledge to install
or repair gas or water pipes, septic tanks, baths and other
sanitary or fire protective aE;paratus for homes and other
buildings under the supervision of a licensed Master Plumber.
(0) The term Maintenance Plumber as used In thle ordinance
shall be held to mean a person who possesses the qualifica-
tions hereinbefore prescribed for a Journeyman Plumber and
who Is regularly ea,;-loyed to maintain and make necessary
repairs to gas or water pipes, septic tanks, bathe rand other
sanitary and fire protective apparatus contained and used
upon or in the buildings or premises owned or occupied or
controlled by the person, firm or corporation by whom employed.
Section 2: No person shall engage In the occupation of Master Plumber,
Journeyman Plumber or MzIntenanoe Plumber as hereinbefore defined unless
n,pl¢nd until said y;erson shall have first passed an examination to be given
,j�'by the Building Inspector of the City of Edgewater; said examination shall
be to determine the practical knowledge of the applicant of plumbing con-
struction and may be in whole or in part in writing, and shall be of a
practical elementary character, but sufficiently strict to test the
qualifications of the applicant as to his ability as a plumber, and his
familiarity with the rules and regulations defining plumbing construction.
The fee for examination shall be as follows:

The Building Inspector of the City of Edgewater may waive the examination
for any applicant whom he finds has passed an examination in another city
or political subdivision sufficiently strict in his opinion to be equal
to or superior in examining the applicant to the examination given by the
Building Inspector of the City of Edgewater. This provision shall not
apply to the fees for the examination.
Section 3: Master Plumbers, Journeyman Plumbers and Maintenance Plumbers
shall not engage in their occupations within the City of Edgewater without
first purchasing occupational licenses which licenses shall expire on
September 30th of each year. The annual fee for said licenses shall be
as follows:

Section 4: Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be
punished by imprisonment for not more than 30 days or fined not more than
050.00, or both, In the discretion of the Municipal Judge. Each day's
violation of this ordinence shall be a separate offense.
Section 5: Nothing In thir. ordinance shall be held to construe or repeal
the occupational license fee heretofore set for Plumbing Contractors for

per year plus 510.00 per year for their certificate of competency.

Station 6: This ordinance shall take effect FYiwwVw36, 1957.
Section 7: All ordinances or }.erto of ordinances in conflict herewith
be, and the same are hereby repealed.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at s regular meeting on the
14h day of 'TannerV A. D. 1957.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the re^uirement
of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordi-
