AN ORDINANCE DEFINING MASTER ELECTRICIAN, JOURNEY-
MAN ELECTRICIAN, AND MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN, AND
PRESCRIBING OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES FOR SAID OCCU-
PATIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR EXAMINATIONS TO BE HELD
FOR SAID OCCUPATIONS WITHIN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The terms, Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician and
Maintenance Electrician, are defined as follows:
(a) The term Master Electrician as used in this Ordinance
shall be held to mean a person who possesses the necessary
qualifications and supervises the installation of electrical
wiring, apparatus or equipment for light, heat, power or
advertising as covered by the terms and provisions of this
ordinance.
(b) The term Journeyman Electrician as used in this Ordi-
nance shall be held to wean a person who possesses the
necessary qualifications, training and technical knowledge
to install electrical wiring, apparatus or equipment for
116ht, heat, power or advertising as covered by the berms
and provisions of this Ordinance under the supervision of
a licensed Master Electrician.
(c) The term Maintenance Electrician as used in this Ordi-
nance shall be held to mean a person who possesses the
qualifications herein before prescribed for a Journeyman
Electrician and who is regularly employed to maintain and
make necessary repairs to the electrical wiring, apparatus
and equipment installed, contained and used upon or in the
buildings or premises owned or occupied or controlled by
the person, firm or corporation by whom employed.
Section 2: No person shall engage in the occupation of Master Electrician,
Journeyman Electrician or Maintenance Electrician as hereinbefore defined
unless and until said person shall have first passed an .examination to be
given by the Building Inspector of the City of Edgewater; said examina-
tion shall be to determine the practical knowledge of the applicant of
electrical construction and may be in whole or in part in writing, and
shall be of a practical elementary character, but sufficiently strict to
test the qualifications of the applicant as to his ability as an elec-
trician, and his familiarity with the rules and regulations defining
electrical construction.
The fee for examination shall be as follows:

The Building ,Tpector of the City of Edgewater may waivb— &ne examination
for any applicant whom he finds has passed an examination in another city
or political subdivision sufficiently strict in his opinion to be equal to
or superior in examining the applicant to the examination given by the
Building Inspector of the City of Edgewater. This provision shall not
apply to the fees for the examination.
Section 3: Master Electricians, Journeyman Electricians and Maintenance
Electricians shall not engage in their occupations within. the City of
Edgewater without first purchasing occupational licenses which licensee
shall expire on September 30th of each year. The annual fee for said
licenses shall be as follows:

Section 4: Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be
punished by imprisonment for not more than 30 days or fined not more than
$50.00, or both, in the discretion of the Municipal Judge. Each day's
violation of this ordinance shall be a separate offense.
Section 5: Nothing in this ordinance shall be held to construe or repeal
the occupational license fee heretofore set for Electrical Contractors for
$0.00 per year plus $10.00 per year for their certificate of competency.
Section 6: This ordinance shall take effect February 15, 1957.
Section 7: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be,
and the same are hereby repealed.
The above ordinance was read In full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting on the
Yth day of 4907P A. D. 1957.
The above and foregoing ordinance was ordered put upon final passage at
a regular meeting upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried,
and the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was
waived, and the ordinance was put upon final passage.
