143ORDINANCE NO. 143 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4, (a) ORDINANCE #9, OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Section 4, (a) be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: - SECTION 2: If the permit is for the construction of a residence or a building within the residential district, the cost of such permit shall be Three Dollars ($3.00) per thousand of the actual cost of construction computed on the basis of not less than Five Dollars($5.00) per square foot of floor space; if the permit be for a commercial building, the cost of such permit shall be Three Dollars ($3.00) per thousand of the cost of construction computed on the basis of not less than Five Dollars (35.00) per square foot of floor space. On all buildings, structures or alterations requiring a building permit, as set forth in this Section, fee shall be paid as required at the time of filing application in accordance with the following schedule:- 1. Where the valuation does not exceed $100.00, no fee shall be required unless an inspection is necessary in which case there shall be a $1.50 fee. 2. For a valuation over $100.00 up to and including $15,000,00 the fee shall be $3.00 per thousand or fraction thereof. 3. For a valuation over $15,000.00 up to and including $100,000.00 the fee shall be $45.00 for the first fifteen thousand plus $2.00 for each addit- ional thousand or fraction thereof. 4. For the moving of any building or structure, the fee shall be $10.00. 5. For the demolition of any building or structure, the fee shall be $4.00. 6. Minimum permit for new houses, $15.00. SECTION 3: If, in the opinion of the Building Official, the valuation of building, alteration, or structure appears to be under -estimated on the appli- cation, permit shall be denied, unless the applicant can show detailed estima- ted cost to meet the approval of the Building Official. SECTION 4: Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for t' weabAm ..It i e e + mainder of said Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. ,, SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be enforced by the Building Inspector in accordance with the interpertation thereof contained in the latest edition of the Southern Standard Building Code - 1954 1955 Revision. SECTION 6: Penalty - Any person who shall be convicted in the Municipal Court of a violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed One Hundred (4100.00) Dollars or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days or both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Municipal Judge. SECTION 7: That all ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 8: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a Regular Meeting held on the szj day of „% A. D. 1957. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
