110ORDINANCE NO. 110
AN ORDINANCE FORBIDDING THE RUNNING AT
LARGE OF CERTAIN ANIMALS AND FORBIDDING
DRIVING OR RIDING CERTAIN ANIMALS UPON
THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1: No horse, mule, jackass, bull, steer, cow or other cattle,
sheep, hog or goat shall be allowed to run at large at any time within
the corporate limits of the City of Edgewater, Florida, whether the owner
lives within or without the same. The owner or keeper of any such animal
or animals found running at large within the corporate limits shall be
liable to a fine therefor of not less than five ($5. 00) dollars, or to
imprisonment for not less than one nor more than twenty days, or to both
fine and imprisonment, the infliction of both or either to be at the
discretion of the court. The animal or animals so running at large shall
be subject to a lien for all costs, fees and expenses incurred in the pro-
ceeding, and furthermore for any fine imposed upon the owner under the
provisions of this Ordinance.
Section 2: No horse shall be ridden or driven upon the public streets or
rights of way, including the shoulders of the public streets, or upon
public sidewalks of the City of Edgewater. Any person violating this
Section of this Ordinance shall be fined upon conviction not more than
twenty-five 425.00) dollars, or subject to imprisonment for not more than
ten days. This section shall not apply to unpaved streets.
Section 9: The Mayor of the City of Edgewater shall have authority to
grant a permit authorizing exemption from either Section 1 or Section 2
of this Ordinance when necessary because of the use of animals In a parade,
circus, or celebration of a public nature. No such permit shall be good
for more than 48 hours.
Section 4: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
Section 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith be,
and the same are, hereby repealed.
The above Ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a special meeting of the
19th day of April, A.D. 1956.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the requirement
of reading said Ordinanod upon second reading was waived, and the Ordi-
nanoe was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
at a special meeting of said Council held on the 19th day of April, A.D.
1956, and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council on roll
call being as follows:
