AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE REMOVAL OF TRASH IN
THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING
FOR TIM PAYMENT OF A CHARGE FOR THE REMOVAL THEREOF
BY THE.CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PRESCRIB-
ING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWA2ER, FLORIDA: �°' a
Section 1. That for the purpose of this Ordinance the word
"trash" shall Include all rubbish, bottles, tin cans, paper and
cardboard boxes)A4
Section 2. That the City of Edgewater, Florida, shall main-
tain and operate a service for the collection and disposal of trash
and all persons, firms and corporations whose premises are served
thereby shall pay to the City of Edgewater for the use of such ser-
vice the sum of $3.00 for each six months or fraction thereof, or the
sum of $5.00 for each year or fraction thereof in excess of six
months. Said fees shall be payable for each residence or commercial
establishment so served. Said fees shall be collected by the City
Clerk of the City of Edgewater and such payments shall be made at the
City Hall. The City Clerk may at his option collect the fees called
for by this Ordinance by means of coupons, tickets, books, or any
plan which to the City Clerk may seem feasible, and the City Clerk
may, if he wishes, permit the fees to be collected by the driver of
the garbage truck as his agent. All fees shall be payable in ad-
vance.
Section 1. That no trash shall be collected or disposed of
by the City of Edgewater, Florida, from any building or premises for
which the owner, occupant or resident has not paid the charges for
said service as hereinbefore provided, and upon said payment becoming
delinquent as hereinafter provided, the City of Edgewater, Florida
shall forthwith discontinue such service until payment is made. Said
City of Edgewater, Florida, may also recover delinquent payments by
due process of law.

Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this ordinance, shall upon conviction in the Municipal
Court of Edgewater, Florida,. of said violation be fined the sum of
not exceeding Fifty ($50.00) dollars or imprisoned for a period of
not exceeding five days, or both such fine and imprisonment in the
discretion of the Court; providing, no persons shall be prosecuted
for violating this ordinance until they are more than thirty (30)
days delinquent in payment of the fees called for by this ordinance.
Section 5. No person, firm or corporation shall dispose of
"trash", as defined in this ordinance, save through the garbage dis-
posal service of the City of Edgewater without the written consent of
the Mayor of Edgewater, and it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to dump, burn, bury, or carry away trash save
through the garbage disposal facilities of the City of Edgewater.
Section 6. The charges and fees made by this ordinance are
due and payable for the service, and its availability to the user,
whether such service is used or not.
Section 7. This ordinance is enacted in order to provide
for the public health, morals, welfare, sanitation and safety of the
people of the City of Edgewater, and is effective March 1, 1956
Section 8. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of
the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular
meeting on the 13th day of February, A.D. 1956•
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the
recuirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived,
and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.

Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edge-
water, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
13th day of February, A.D. 1956 and approved as provided by Law,
the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:
