WHERDAS it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City
of Edgewater, Florida, that displays of goods, wares and merchandise are being
placed on the sidewalks of said city and within the boundries prohibited by the
laws of the state of Florida, creating a hazard to the saf^ty of the residents
and visitors to said city, and it having been determined by said City Council
that it is to the best interests of the inhabitants of said city to prohibit
the sale, display, and storage of merchandise outside of the boundriesperscribed
by the laws of the State of Florida.
NOW THER.F'FORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPU OF T_RE CITY OF EDGz'NATER, FLORIDA-
Section 1: That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to store, display, sell or offer for sale, goods, wares or
merchandise of every kind and description nearer than seventy—eight (78)
feet from the center line of the abutting road or highway.
Section 2: That all stores, shops, businesses or other merchandising
establishments whether housed in a permanent structure or not, or whether
covered or open, shall confirm to the set back lines from time to time
adopted and perscribed by the City of Edgewater, Florida, except establishments
engaged in the retail sale of gasoline from pumps where ever the same may be
located.
Section 3: That any person, firm or corporation violating the terms
hereof shall be punished by a fine of not .more than 'inn,nn dollars, or
imprisonment for not more than ,n _ days, or both .such fine and imprisonment
in the discretion of the municipal judge.
Section 4: That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its passage and approval by the Mayor.
Section 5: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed.
The above ordinance visa read in full and passed ly the vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 9th
day of August, A. D. 1954.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of
reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was
ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 9th day of August,
A. D. 1954, and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council being
as followst
