67J ORDINANCE NO. 67 ROOP�`E'D AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING CERTAIN OCCUPATIONAL AND BUSINESS LICENSE TPMS AND PROVIDING FOR THE PANT AND COLLECTION '"HERrOF AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION PEREOF. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA Section 1. No person or persons, firm or corporation shall engage in, manage, transact or carry on any business, profession or occupation mentioned in this Ordinance, within the City of rd?ewater, until after a license therefor shall have been procured from the City Clerk, which license shall be issued to each person, firm or corporation upon receipt of the amount hereinafter provided, paid to the City Clerk, who shall issue all licenses. Section 2, The license year shall begin on the first day of October of each year and end on the 30th day of September of each year, on which latter date all licenses shall expire. No license shall be issued for any fractional portion of any year, except as otherwise provided herein, and except that any license may be issued after the first day of April to expire September 30th upon payment of one-half of the amount fixed as the price of such license for one year. Section 3. All business licenses shall be transferable, w'.th the approval of the Mayor, with the business for which they were taken out, when there is a bona fide sale or transfer of the property used and employed in the business as stock in trade, but such transfered license shall not be good for any longer time nor in any other place that that for which it was originally issued. The original license must be surrendered to and filed with the City Clerk, at the time of application for the transfer and such transferred license, after being approved, shall be of the same force and effect as the original license. Section 4. The following designated license taxes shall be paid to the City by persons engaging in, or managing or transacting the following several businesses, occupations or professions: -A- ADDING MACHINES - Dealers in or agents for, whether in connection with any other business or not 10.00 ADVERTISING - Each person, firm or corporation advertising on streets with banners, floats, cartoons, exhibitions, megaphones or any other means (except in conjunction with public celebrations or athletic events) when no vehicle is used - per day 10.00 Provided, however, that no license tax of this character shall be issued to a transient for less than four days, and that transients engaged in this character of advertising shall pay daily a tax of 20.G0 Where vehicle is used, per day 25.00 Advertising schemes and devices not otherwise provided for, each device 65.00 Advertising - Any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of outdoor advertising, such as painting walls, bulletins, bill posting, and commercial sign painting 25.00 Advertising - Agents, firms, associations, cor- porations or any other person distributing circulars, pamphlets or other advertising matter (except those paying merchants city licenses advertising their own goods or mer- chandise) 50.00 AGENCIES - Agency or any other business not herein specifically mentioned 10.00 AGENCY - Agency - Employment 20.00 Agency - Furniture, bousehold goods or musical instruments, retail canvasser, soliciting orders for or selling for other than a licensed dealer 100.00 Agency - For the collection of rents or accounts other than banks, lawyers or real estate agency paying other license tax to the City 20.00 Agency - Credit Association 15.00 Agents - For, or dealer in brick, paying no other license 65.00` Agents or Canvassers for books, magazines or periodicals 100.00 Agents - Taking orders for hosiery, underwear, clothing, dress goods and all other agents not otherwise specified 10.00 AMUSEMENTS - Not otherwise covered by Ordinance, which shall include indoor baseball and any other lawful indoor sport 15.00 APARTMENT HOUSES APARTMENTS (Same as lodging or boarding) (See Rooming Houses). l - 2 - ARCHITECTS - Each ART EXCHANGE - Having art work and novelties for sale or handling on commission, and paying no other license ARTIFICIAL STONE manufacturers and dealers in tiling, terra Gotta, marble, granite, etc., or agents for (except merchants paying other license tax to the City) AUCTIONEERS AUCTION HOUSE AUTOMOBILES - Selling or taking orders, each person, firm, corporation or company selling or taking or- ders for sale of automobiles, motor trucks, motor boats, motor cars, motor carriages or vehicles of like kind or character, with a display room Automobiles - Shops for repairing automobiles, motor boats, motorcycles, etc., or for vul- canizing or repairing rubber tires, with incidental endeavors Automobiles - Buying and selling second-hand machines only Automobiles- for hire - U-Drive-It or other individuals, firms or corporations having automobiles for hire Automobiles - for Hire - each individual driver of an automobile for hire and each individual driver of a truck for hire, not paying license as a baggage or transfer company shall pay a license of - R - BAKERY - Retail Bakery - Including confectionary BARBER SHOPS - One chair Each additional chair. Section 6. If any section, portion or clause of this Ordinance for any reason shall be held void, inoperative or unconstitutional, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect or invalidate the remaining sections or provisions thereof. Section 7. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed, Section 8 This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting held on the 12th day of July, A. D., 1954.
