AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING CERTAIN OCCUPATIONAL AND BUSINESS
LICENSE TPMS AND PROVIDING FOR THE PANT AND COLLECTION
'"HERrOF AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION PEREOF.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA
Section 1. No person or persons, firm or corporation shall engage in,
manage, transact or carry on any business, profession or occupation mentioned in
this Ordinance, within the City of rd?ewater, until after a license therefor shall
have been procured from the City Clerk, which license shall be issued to each
person, firm or corporation upon receipt of the amount hereinafter provided,
paid to the City Clerk, who shall issue all licenses.
Section 2, The license year shall begin on the first day of October
of each year and end on the 30th day of September of each year, on which latter
date all licenses shall expire. No license shall be issued for any fractional
portion of any year, except as otherwise provided herein, and except that any
license may be issued after the first day of April to expire September 30th upon
payment of one-half of the amount fixed as the price of such license for one
year.
Section 3. All business licenses shall be transferable, w'.th the
approval of the Mayor, with the business for which they were taken out, when
there is a bona fide sale or transfer of the property used and employed in
the business as stock in trade, but such transfered license shall not be good
for any longer time nor in any other place that that for which it was originally
issued. The original license must be surrendered to and filed with the City
Clerk, at the time of application for the transfer and such transferred
license, after being approved, shall be of the same force and effect as the
original license.
Section 4. The following designated license taxes shall be paid to
the City by persons engaging in, or managing or transacting the following
several businesses, occupations or professions:

ITINERANT MNRCRANf:
Definition: The words "Itinerant Merchant" as used in
this Ordinance are to be construed to mean and include
all person", firms or corporations, both principal and
agent, who engage in a temporary or transient business
in the City of Edgewater of selling goods, wares and
merchandise and who, for the purpose of carrying on such
business for hire, lease or occupy any room, building or
structure for the exhibition or sale of such goods, wares
and merchandise, and the persona, firms or corporations
so engaged shall not be relieved from the provisions of
this Ordinance ly reason of association with any local
dealer, trader, merchant or auctioneer or by conducting
such temporary or transient business in connection with or
as a part of or in the name of any local dealer, trader,
merchant or auctioneer. A license paid for one year under. this
section is not to be construed to be proof that such
itinerant vendor or merchant is not subsequently to be sub-
ject to similar classification.

Section 5, Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of
violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined " ".n^
or imprisoned for not more than an days, or both.
Section 6. If any section, portion or clause of this Ordinance
for any reason shall be held void, inoperative or unconstitutional, such
invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect or invalidate the
remaining sections or provisions thereof.
Section 7. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed,
Section 8 This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and approval by the Mayor.
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting held on the
12th day of July, A. D., 1954.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the requirement of reading
said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put
upon final passage,
