13R E S 0 L U T I O.N WHEREAS, potential enemies of the United States have the arsenal and delivery systems to subject the United States to a devastating attack, employing nuclear, chemical, biologitalror conventional weapons, and sabotage or other acts of clandestine warfare, or a combination of any or all of such weapons; and WHEREAS, responsibility for the civil defense of Florida is vested in the State and its political subdivisions; and WHEREAS, preparation by the City of Edgewater, including all Departments and services thereof, elected officials, their facilities equipment, and industrial Civil Defense organizations having civil defense responsibilities, all other agencies having civil defense responsibilities, to meet the conditions of war adversity, will determine the effectiveness of the Cityls opera- tional survival capability; and WHEREAS, basic to emergency operational capability is a public well informed on the elements of individual survival and the provision of government plans for the protection of the people; NOW, THEREBORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA- SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, does hereby agree to and approve the City of Edgewater Civil Defense Plan, together with its several annexes, for the Civil Defense of the City of Edgewater, promulgated pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Executive Order, dated the 31st of August, 1961, Office of the Governor, State of Florida, and Florida Civil Defense Plan - 1962, and Volusia County Civil Defense Plan revised January, 1963, as a necessary step in advance of actual disaster or catastrophe, and as a part of the comprehensive plan and program for the Civil Defense of the City of Edgewater. .F_,y _G 3 7F 13 I SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect immedi- ately upon its passage. SECTION 3• That all resolutions in conflict herewith be repealed. The above and foregoing resolution was presented by Councilman Seng , who moved its adoption; said motion being seconded by Councilman Siller Upon roll call vote, said resolution was declared duly adopted at the regular meeting of said Council held on the 15th day of April , A.
