15RESOLUTION N0. 15 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONORABLE E. W. GAUTIER,. SENATOR FROM VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA; AND. THE HONORABLE JAMES H. SWEENY, JR., AND. THE HONORABLE FREDERICK B. KARL, REPRESENTATIVES FROM VOLUSIA COUNY, FLORIDA, TO PRESENT TO THE 1963 LEGISLATURE FOR PASSAGE, A NEW CHARTER FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA WHICH IS ENTITLED: "AN ACT TO ABOLISH THE PRESENT MUNICIPAL GOVERN- MENT OF THE .'CITY OF EDGEWATER' IN THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND STATE OF FLORIDA; AND TO ESTABLISH, ORGANIZE AND CONSTITUTE A MUNICIPALITY TO BE KNOWN AS 'THE CITY OF EDGEWATER', IN THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND STATE OF FLORIDA; TO PROVIDE A CHARTER FOR.SAID.CITY; FIX THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES;.TO.PROVIDE FOR ITS GOVERNMENT AND TO.PRESCRIBE ITS JURISDICTION, POWERS AND PRIVI- LEGES; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ACT SHALL.TAKE IWFECT." ... WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has heretofore requested its City Attorney, the Honorable LOUIS OSSINSKY, SR., to prepare a proposed new City Charter for the City of Edgewater, Florida, and WHEREAS, conferences have been held with the City Council in reference to the proposed new City Charter, and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has drafted a proposed Charter, entitled: "AN ACT TO ABOLISH THE PRESENT MUNICIPAL GOVERN- MENT OF THE 'CITY. OF EDGEWATER' IN. THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND THE STATE..OF FLORIDA; AND TO ESTAB- LISH,.ORGANIZE .AND .CONSTITUTE A.MUNICIPALITY TO BE KNOWN AS 'THE CITY OF EDGEWATER', IN THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND STATE OF FLORIDA; TO PROVIDE A CHARTER FOR SAID CITY; FLY THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES;. TO PROVIDE FOR ITS GOVERNMENT AND TO PRESCRIBE ITS JURISDICTION, POWERS AND PRIVILEGES; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS. ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT." which proposed Charter has been read at an Open Public Meeting at the City Hall, City of Edgewater on Saturday, the 13th day of April, A. D. 1963 at which Open Meeting Saturday at 10:00 o'clock A. M. the complete proposed Charter was read in full, and - 1 - �, m- WHEREAS, only a few questions were asked in reference to the proposed City Charter and there being no specific objections to said proposed Charter, and it appears to the City Council that said proposed Charter has been very well drafted and meets with the approval of the City Council, that same should be presented to the Senator and Representatives of Volusia County, Florida; for presenting to the State Legis- lature for passage, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the Honorable E. W. GAUTIER, Senator from Volusia County, Florida and the Honorable JAMES H: SWEENY, JR., and FREDERICK B. KARL, Representatives from Volusia County, Florida to the State Legislature of Florida, be and they are hereby requested to present a proposed Bill to be entitled: "AN ACT TO ABOLISH THE PRESENT MUNICIPAL GOVERN- MENT OF THE .'CITY OF EDGEWATER' IN THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND THE STATE OF FLORIDA; AND TO ESTAB- LISH,.ORGANIZE AND CONSTITUTE A -MUNICIPALITY TO BE KNOWN AS 'THE CITY OF EDGEWATER', IN THE COUNTY OF VOLUSIA, AND STATE OF FLORIDA; TO PROVIDE A CHARTER FOR SAID CITY; FIX THE TERRITORIAL LIMITS AND BOUNDARIES; TO PROVIDE FOR ITS GOVERNMENT AND TO PRESCRIBE ITS JURISDICTION, POWERS AND PRIVILEGES; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT." to the Legislature of the State of Florida, and to do everything within their power to seek approval of said Bill, which Bill when passed by the Legislature will be the new City Charter for the City of Edgewater, Florida. SECTION 2: That LOUIS OSSINSKY, SR., City Attorney for the City of Edgewater, is hereby authorized and directed to submit sufficient number of copies of said proposed City Charter - 2 - to the Representatives set forth in Section 1 hereof. SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Edgewater is hereby ordered and directed to forthwith mail a certified copy of this Resolution to the Honorable E. W. GAUTIER, Senator; the Honorable JAMS H. SWEENY, JR., and the Honorable FREDERICK B. KARL, Representatives for their speedy considera- tion in endeavoring to pass the aforesaid Bill for the new City Charter for the City of Edgewater, Florida. SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage. The above and foregoing Resolution was presented by Councilman Palmateer who moved its adoption. Said Motion being seconded by Councilman Drury Upon roll call said Resolution was duly declared adopted at the ap6;6i.Ar meeting of said City Council, on the 2nd, day of Mgy il., A.D. 1963.
