Proclamation - Territorial Boundaries - 05-14-1957} PROCLAMATION WHEREAS an election was held on May 14, 1957, in the City of Edge- water for the purpose of determining whether or not an Act of the Legislature of Florida entitled: "AN ACT RELATING TO THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY: A1,1;NDING SECTION 6 OF CHAPTER 27532, LAWS OF FLORIDA, SPECIAL ACTS OF 1951, BY CHANGING THE TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID SECTION 6; TO PROVIDE A REFERENDUM; and PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE." should become effective, which Act became a law and was signed by the Governor of the State of Florida on April 12, 1957, and WHEREAS said Act provides for a referendum to be held within three months after the passage of the Act, and WHEREAS said referendum was held at the aforesaid date in accordance with the laws and ordinances governing elections in the City of Edgewater, and WHEREAS the Board conducting said election has certified the results thereof to be as follows: For 339 3 Against %0,9 the question "Shall the City of Edgewater Extend the City Boundaries to Include the Property Known as FLORIDA SHORES?" NOW, THEREFORE, I, George 0. Sedgwlck, as Mayor of the City of Edge- water, do hereby proclaim: 1. That the Act entitled "AN ACT RELATING TO THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY; AMENDING SECTION 6 of CHAPTER 27532, LAWS OF FLORIDA, SPECIAL ACTS OF 1951, BY CHANGING THE TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID SECTION 6; TO PROVIDE A REFERENDUM; AND PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE" became operative and effective at 12:01 A.M. on May 16, 1957, which was the day following the official canvass of the ballots casBTat the foregoing referendum election, and the results as shown by the - 1 - Election Board are accepted. 2. That certified copies of this referendum be furnished to the Secretary of State of the State of Florida for his information, so thpt he may know that said Act became effective; and certified copies of this referendum be furnished to the Tax Assessor of Volusia County, Florida, so that he may know that said Act became effective. 3• This Proclamation is joined in by all Councilmen of the City of Edgewater and attested by its City Clerk, for the reason that the City Council of the City of Edgewater as a whole accepts the results of said election as furnished to it by the Election Board.
