Proclamation - Special Election - 05-14-1957A PROCLAMATION PROVIDING FOR CALLING
AND THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY,
FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, under the legistative Charter of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, the City Council has full power to provide regulations for the
holding of elections in the City of Edgewater, Florida, and
WHEREAS, a Special Election is required to be held in the year
1957 for the purpose of electing one (1) Councilman to fill a vacancy in
Zone #2 created by the resignation of Councilman Friedley, to serve on the
governing body of the City of .Edgewater, Florida for the unexpired term from
the second Wednesday after the second Monday in May, A.D. 1957.
SECTION 1: That the second Tuesday after the second Monday in
May, A.D. 1957, to -wit May 14, 1957, be and the same is hereby fixed as
Special Election Day in the City of Edgewater, Florida for the purpose of
holding an election to designate one (1) Councilman from Zone #2 to serve
on the governing body of the City of Edgewater, Florida until November 6th,
1957, and an election is hereby called for on said date in the City of
Edgewater, Florida, for said purpose, and the Clerk is hereby authorised
and directed to post two (2) copies of the notice of said election in the
most conspicuous and public places in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one
of which shall be the Bulletin Board in the City Hall of said City.
SECTION 2: That the City Clerk shall open the registration books
of said City on such dates as will permit of registration on each day except-
ing Sunday -subsequent to the posting of the revision of the registration book
by the City Council immediately preceding the seventh day prior to such elec-
tion, and keepthe same open from 9:00 to 12:00 in the forenoon and from 1:00
to 4:30 in the afternoon of each day excepting Saturday and Sunday until 6:00
P.M. on the seventh day prior to such election, and at such time it shall be
closed.
The above and foregoing Proclamatinn was introduced at a Regular
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held March 25,
1957, said proclamation being introduced by Councilman Farrell who moved its
adoption, which said motion was seconded by Councilman Washburn end unanimously
passed, the vote of said Council being as follows:
