Proclamation 1959-31 - Special Election - 09-22-1959A PROCLAMATION PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING AND THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, under the legislative Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida, the City Council has full power to provide regulations for the holding of elections in the City of Edgewater, Florida, and WHEREAS, a special election is required to be held in the year 1959 for the purpose of electing a Mayor at large to serve on the governing body of the City of Edgewater, Florida for the unexpired term from the first Wednesday after the third Monday in September, A. D. 1959. FOW, THEREFORE, HE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE, CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGE - WATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the first Tuesday after the third Monday in September, A.D. 1959, to wit, September 22, 1959, be and the same is hereby fixed as Special Election Day in the City of Edgewater, Florida, for the purpose of holding an election to designate a Mayor at large to serve on the governing body of the City of Edgewater, Florida for the unexpired term from the first Wednesday after the third Monday in September, A. D. 1959, to -wit, September 22, 1959, and a special election is hereby called for on said date in the City of Edgewater, Florida, for said purpose, and the Clerk is hereby authorised and directed to post two (2) copies of the notice of said election in the most conspicuous and public places in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one of which shall be the Bulletin Board in the City Hall of said City. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall open the registration books of said City or. such dates as will permit of registration on each day excepting Saturday and Sunday, subsequent to the posting of the revision of the re- gistration book by the City Council irmnediately preceding the seventh day prior to such election, and keep the same open from 9:00 to 12:00 in the forenoon and from 1:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon each day excepting Saturday and Sunday, until 6:00 P.M. on the seventh day prior to such election, and. at such time it shall be closed. 1959431 The above and foregoing Proclamation was introduced at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held August 17th, 1959, said Proclamation being introduced by Councilman Broea , who moved its adoption, which said motion was seconded by Councilman Henry and Carried, the vote of said Council being as follows:- Vicezviay a Counci n i c2u rz :Councilma 2 Councilman Approved this 17th day of August, A.D. 1959.
