THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA
WHEREAS a bill entitled
PAN ACT RELATING TO THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY: AMENDING SECTION 6 OF CHAP-
TER 27532, LAWS OF FLORIDA, SPECIAL ACTS OF
1951, BY CHANGING THE TERRITORIAL BOUNDARIES
OF SAID SECTION 6; TO PROVIDE A REFERENDUM;
AND PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE°
is now law; and
WHEREAS the aforesaid bill requires a referendum, and in accordance
with the provisions of Ordinance No. 152 of the City of Edgewater
entitled

PASSED BY THE 1957 SESSION OF THE FLORIDA
LEGISLATUREN
NOW, THEREFORE, I, David L. Washburn, do hereby proclaim:
Section 1: That the second Tuesday after the second Monday in May,
A. D. 1957, be and the same is hereby fixed as Special Election Day
in the City of Edgewater, Florida, for the purpose of holding an
election to vote on whether or not the boundaries of the City of
Edgewater shall be as follows, to -wit:
Commence in the middle of the Gabardy or South Canal in
Section Fifty, in Township seventeen South of Range
thirty-four East, where said Canal enters the Hillsboro
or Indian River North for a point of beginning; thence
Westerly. in the middle of said Canal to the South line
of the Seymour Pickett Grant in Section forty-nine, in
Township and Range as given above; thence seventy-four
degrees West, on said Grant line to the intersection of
the section line between sections twenty-nine and thirty;
thence south on said Section line forty-six and fifty
hundredths chains to the North line of the G. Alvarez
Grant (Section fifty-two); thence South seventy-four
degrees West, four and fifty hundredths chains on the
North line of the aforesaid Alvarez Grant to its North-
west corner; thence South fourteen degrees East, fifty
chains on the West line of the aforesaid G. Alvarez
Grant to its Southwest corner; thence North seventy-
four degrees East, on the South line of the aforesaid
G. Alvarez Grant to the Northeast corner of lot number
three, in Section thirty-two, in Township seventeen,
South of Range thirty-four East; thence South on the

of the Jane Murray Grant; thence along the North Line of

of U. S. Lot 2, Section eleven, Township eighteen South,
Range thirty-four East; thence North 00 26' 16" West 920.1
feet to the West right-of-way line of the F. E. C. Railway;
thence Northerly along said West right-of-way of the F. E. C.
Railway line to the South line of Section Two, Township
eighteen South, Range thirty-four East; thence North 890 131 44"
East along the South line of said Section Two to the South-
east corner of said Section Two, thence North 00 271 16"

thence North 00 27' 16" West 1100.5 feet to the Northeast
corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter
of Section two, Township eighteen South, Range thirty-four

west corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast quar-
ter of said Section two; thence North 00 041 360 West 2665
feet to the Northeast corner of the Southeast quarter of
the Northwest Quarter of Section two, Township eighteen

West 1320 feet to the Northwest Corner of the Southeast
quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section two;
thence North 00 06, 41" East 1320 feet to the Northeast
corner of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
of said Section two, said Township, and Range; thence
Easterly along the South line of lots three and five in
Section two, Township eighteen South of Range thirty-four
East to the low water mark on the West shore of the Hills-
boro or Indian River North; thence East to the center of
the original channel of the Indian River North (formerly
Hillsboro River); thence Northerly along center of said
channel to an intersection with the Easterly prolongation
of the center line of the South or Gabardy Canal; thence
Westerly along said prolongation of center line of Gabardy
Canal to point of beginning.
Section 2: That the City Clerk shall open the registration book
of said City on such dates as will permit of registration on each
day excepting Saturdays and Sundays subsequent to the posting of
the revision of the registration book by the City Council, until
the eighth day prior to such election, to -wit: May 6, 1957, and
keep the same open from nine to twelve in the forenoon, and from

one to four —thirty in the afternoon of each day excepting Saturday
and Sunday, and until 6:00 P.Ai. on May 6, 1957, and at such time
it shall be closed.
Section 3: The election shall be conducted on May 14, 1957, between
the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. at the Community Center, and
conducted on voting machines marked to pull levers either "For" or
"Against" the question "Shall the City of Edgewater Extend the City
Boundaries to Include the Property Known as FLORIDA SHORES?," and
absentee ballots shall be permitted as now provided by the general
laws of the State of Florida, marked to place an "%" after the word
"For" or "Against" the same question.
Section 4: The Proclamation shall be posted on the bulletin board
of the City of Edgewater at the City Hall and in two conspicuous
places in the City of Edgewater, to —wit: the Community Center and
the . Henryls Sundries
The above and foregoing Proclamation is made by me, David L. Washburn,
as Acting Mayor of the City of Edgewater, under and by virtue of
Ordinance No. 152 of the City of Edgewater this 12th day of April,
