Special Election Results - 09-01-1953A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EDG&dATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA ON THE 1st DAY OF SEPTEMBER A.D. 1953. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That from the canvass of the Returns, it is hereby declared that the result of the Special Election held in the City of Edgewater, Florida, on September let, 1953 is as follows: - CHARTER AMENDMENTS Section 8 of the Charter Creating four voting districts Absentee Ballots For the Amendment 118 Against the Amendment 98 2 Section 10 of the Charter concerning the qualifications of members. For the Amendment 144 Against the Amendment 66 2 Section 14 of the Charter providing that .the mayor shall be elected at large For the Amendment 196 2 Against the Amendment 27 Section 17 of the Charter providing for Council Meetings. For the Amendment 183 2 Against the Amendment 36, Section 136 of the Charter proving the City Council shall canvas the returns at 4:00 P.M. the following day. For the Amendment 174 2 Against the Amendment 35 Section 138 of the Charter providing for the nomination of candidates For the Amendment 173 2 Against the Amendment , 39 Section 140 of the Charter providing the winner in each district For the Amendment 157 1 Against the Amendment 53. An amendment adding a recall provision to Section 129 of the Charter For the Amendment 178 2 Against the Amendment 33 SECTION 2. That the City Council of said City do hereby declare that all amendments were carried.
