229RESOLUTION NO. 229 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DISCONTINUANCE OF THE POLICE DISPATCHING SERVICE PRESENTLY PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF EDGE - WATER, FLORIDA AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO UTILIZE THE POLICE DISPATCHING SERVICE OF THE CITY OF NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA �® AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF EDGEWATER TO USE THE SAME POLICE FREQUENCY USED BY THE VOLUSIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND THE CITY OF NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida has, in an effort to reorganize the Police Department upon a more efficient basis and to provide greater police protection for the citizens of Edgewater, Florida, determined that more and better police protection can be furnished the citizens of Edge- water by eliminating the police dispatching services presently being furnished by the City of Edgewater, and to utilize the police dispatching services of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the police dispatching services presently being furnished by the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be either partly or wholly eliminated and dispensed with and the employment of all dispatchers presently employed by the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be terminated as soon as the City Council deems practicable. SECTION 2. That as soon as practicable, as determined by the City Council, the City of Edgewater shall utilize and is hereby authorized to use the police dispatching services of the New Smyrna Beach Police Department, and the City of Edgewater is further authorized to use the same police frequency used by the Volusia County Sheriff's Department and the City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. SECTION 3. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded. SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. The above and foregoing Resolution was presented by Council 2 man Norman who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman Dietz , and, upon roll call vote, the said Resolution was duly declared adopted at a regular meeting of City Council held on March 4, 1968; the vote of said Council upon roll call being as follows: !!PIB
