361RESOLUTION NO._361 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A PRIMARY ELECTION AND A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA ON OCTOBER 20, 1970 TO ASCERTAIN THE NOMINEES TO BE VOTED UPON FOR COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 4 IN THE NOVEMBER 3, 1970 GENERAL ELECTION, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION TO DECIDE WHETHER TO APPROVE TWO PROPOSED CHARTER CHANGES, THE FIRST TO RAISE THE SALARY OF THE MAYOR AND EACH COUNCILMAN AND THE SECOND TO RAISE THE MINIMUM LIMIT pig REQUIRED FOR COMPETITIVE BIDS, DECLARING �V THE NOMINEES TO BE VOTED UPON FOR COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 2 IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER AT THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 3, 1970, v AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the following votes were received by the following candidates for Councilman from Zone 4 in the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, at a Primary Election held October 20, 0970 for Councilman from Zone 4: CALVIN R. DIETZ received /4940 votes. PHILIP H. BEBBINGTON receive j ¢ votes. SAMUEL E. GROSS received �v'oess.. CARMEN MONTESANO received votes. DAVID L. WIGGINS received q I I votes. ROBERT E. N *4 0-1, be and they are hereby declared to be the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes in said Primary Election and their names be and the same shall be placed on the ballot as candidates for Councilman from Zone 4 at the General Election to be held in the City of Edgewater, Volusfa County, Florida on November 3, 1970. SECTION 3. That the following votes were received on the following proposed Charter change: Should the Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida be changed to.. amend Sec. 8, Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, as amended by Sec. 1, Chapter 29049, Special Acts 1953, Laws of Florida, as amended by Sec. 1, Chapter 1310, Special Acts 1965, Laws of Florida, as amended by Sec. 1, Chapter 1505, Special Acts 1965, Laws of Florida, as amended by Sec. 1, Chapter 1364, Special Acts 1967, Laws of Florida, as amended by Sec. 1, Chapter 2228, Special Acts 1967, Laws of Florida so as to raise the compensation of the Mayor from the sum of $400.00 annually to the sum of $100.00 per month, payable monthly, and so as to raise the compensation of each Councilman of the City Council from the sum of $300.00 annually to the sum of $75.00 per month, payable monthly. That the following votes were received on the following proposed Charter change: Should the Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida be changed by amending Sec. 104, Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, as amended by.Sec. 2, Chapter 61-2115, Special Acts 1961, Laws of Florida, so as to provide that the City Council shall be allowed to make expenditures or enter into contracts up to the amount of $1,000.00 without the necessity of competitive bids therefor. That said question contained in SECTION 5. above be and the same is hereby declared to be (appP"ed)" (disapproved) by the qualified voters of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida. SECTION 7. That David C. Ledbetter and Charles P. Ganta be and they are hereby declared to be nominees to be placed on the ballot from Zone 2 at the General Election to be held in the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida on November 3, 1970. SECTION 8. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions In conflict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded. SECTION 9. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
