409RESOLUTION NO. 409 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR AND FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 1 TO BE NOMINATED AT A PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD OCTOBER 19, 1971 AND DECLARING THE CANDIDATE AND NOMINATION OF A COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 3 TO BE VOTED UPON AT THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1971, SAID CANDIDATES TO BE VOTED UPON CITY WIDE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PREPARATION AND PRINTING OF BALLOTS FOR SAID ELECTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. WHEREAS, Petitions have been filed with the City Clerk of the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida to have the names of Dana T. Armstrong, Calvin R. Dietz, George M. Dimm and David C. Ledbetter placed on the ballot as candidates for the office of Mayor; Marian L. Crigger, Jacob Lodico and Ryta F. Webber placed on the ballot as candidates for Council- man from Zone 1; and David C. Severance placed on the ballot as candidate for Councilman from Zone 3; and it appearing that a Primary Election will be necessary to declare candidates for Mayor and for Councilman from Zone 1 but that a Primary Election will not be necessary to declare the candidacy of a Councilman from Zone 3. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the names of Dana T. Armstrong, Calvin R. Dietz, George M. Dimm and David C. Ledbetter be. placed on the official ballot as candidates for the office of Mayor of the City of Edgewater, Florida said candidates to be voted upon at a Primary Election to be held October 19, 1971. SECTION 2. That the names of Marian L. Crigger, Jacob Lodico and Ryta F. Webber be placed on the official ballot as candidates to be voted upon at a Primary Election to be held October 19, 1971, as Councilmen from Zone 1. SECTION 3. That inasmuch as David C. Severance is the only candidate qualifying for the office of Councilman from Zone 3, his name need not be placed on the ballot for the Primary Election to be held October 19, 1971 but shall be Abq placed on the ballot for the General Election to be held November 2, 1971. SECTION 4. That the election for each office shall be voted upon on a city wide basis. SECTION 5. That the names of the two candidates receiv- ing the largest number of votes for the office of Mayor and for the office of Councilman from Zone 1 and the name of David C. Severance as Councilman from Zone 3 shall be placed on the ballot for the Regular Election to be held November 2, 1971 as provided by local election laws. SECTION 6. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forthwith transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor -Director of the Department of Elections for Volusia Cointy, Florida and that the printing of necessary ballots will be in accordance with the instructions of said Supervisor -Director of the Department of Elections for Volusia County, Florida, and there will be printed absentee ballots. SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
