41510 RESOLUTION NO. 415 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A PRIMARY ELECTION AND THE RESULTS OF A REFERENDUM ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER ON OCTOBER 19, 1971 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASCERTAINING THE NOMINEES TO BE VOTED UPON FOR COUNCILMEN FROM ZONES 1 AND 3 AND FOR MAYOR IN THE NOVEMBER 2, 1971 GENERAL ELECTION, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A REFERENDUM ELECTION HELD FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING PROPOSED CHARTER CHANGES TO THE PUBLIC, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the following number of votes were received by the following candidates for Mayor in the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida at a Primary Election held on October 19, 1971: G Dana T. Armstrong received 3 O 6 _votes; Calvin R. Dietz received !r 9 votes; George M. Dimm received votes; and David C. Ledbetter received / S3 votes. w receiving the highest number of votes, their names shall be placed on the ballot for the Regular Election heretofore called for November 2, 1971. SECTION 2. That the following number of votes were received by the following candidates for Councilman from Zone 1 in the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida at a Primary Election held on October 19, 1971: Marian L. Crigger received J�1votes; Jacob Lodico received 5'.3 votes; and /✓% 9tVG6 Ryta F. Webber received / q-V II votes. 1,14, � L. C1n-,Rr and aaL,J.,*. receiving the highest number of votes, their names shall be placed on the ballot for the Regular Election heretofore called for November 2, 1971. I SECTION 3. That there being only one candidate for the office of Councilman from Zone 3, David C. Severance, his name shall be placed on the ballot for the Regular Election heretofore called for November 2, 1971. SECTION 4. On the question of whether a portion of Section 8 of Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, as amended by Section 1, House Bill 12XX, Laws of Florida, Special Acts 1967 should be amended so as to increase the compensation of members of the City Council from $300.00 annually, payable monthly, to the sum of $50.00 per month, payable monthly, the following votes were received: For approval 331 votes. Against approval 4taCC % votes. The said Charter change is hereby declared Ampons (disapproved). SECTION 5. On the question of whether a portion of Section 8 of Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, as amended by Section 1, House Bill 12XX, Laws of Florida, Special Acts 1967 should be amended so as to increase the compensation of the Mayor from $400.00 annually, payable monthly, to the sum of $75.00 per month, payable monthly, the following votes were received: For approval33'3votes. Against approval 44 s votes. The said Charter change is hereby declared ( pp (disapproved). SECTION 6. On the question of whether Section 104, Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, as amended by Section 2, Chapter 61-2115, Special Acts 1961, Laws of Florida, should be amended so as to provide that the City Council shall be allowed to make expenditures or enter into contracts up to the amount of $1,000,00 without the necessity of competitive bids, the following votes were received: For approval 9 Y votes. / Against approval votes. -2- The said charter change is hereby declared 4/S4ri1 (disapproved). SECTION 7. On the question of whether Section 20 of Chapter 27532, Special Acts 1951, Laws of Florida, should be amended so as to provide that when members of the City Council shall vote affirmatively for a Resolution or Ordinance or Motion, said affirmative vote shall be indicated and taken by the word "Yes" and that any negative vote upon any Ordinance, Resolution or Motion shall be indicated and shall be taken by the word "No" the following votes were received: For approval 1 votes. Against approval_votes. The said charter change is hereby declared (approved) (liieMANURNWA SECTION S. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and instructed to forthwith transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor -Director of the Department of Elections for Volusia County, Florida. SECTION 9. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded. SECTION 10. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor or Vice Mayor. The above and foregoing Resolution was presented by Councilman Lodics who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman Wiggins , and, upon roll call vote, the said Resolution was duly declared adopted at a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held on the 20th day of October A.D., 1971; the vote of said Council upon roll call being as follows: -3- Approved this 20th day oL' ncii of October A.D., 1971. - This Resolution was prepared by Cla rles A.
