A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CANDIDATES FOR THE
OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN FROM ZONES 2 AND 4 TO BE
NOMINATED AT A PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD
OCTOBER 24, 1972 AND DECLARING THE CANDIDATE
AND NOMINATION OF A COUNCILMAN FROM ZONES 2
AND 4 TO BE VOTED UPON AT THE GENERAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 7, 1972, SAID CANDIDATES TO
BE VOTED UPON CITY WIDE, AND PROVIDING FOR THE F"
PREPARATION AND PRINTING OF BALLOTS FOR SAID
ELECTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREFOR.
W H E R E A S , Petitions have been filed with the City Clerk of the City of
Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida to have the names of Edward K. Clinton,
David C. Ledbetter, and Charles P. Ganta on the ballot as candidates for
Councilman from Zone 2; and the names of James M Mackie, Jr., Carmen
Montesano, and John G. Bevel placed on the ballot as candidates for Council-
man from Zone 4; and it appearing that a Primary Election will be necessary
to declare candidates for Councilman from Zones 2 and 4.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the names of Edward K. Clinton, David C. Ledbetter, and
Charles P. Ganta be placed on the official ballot as candidates to be voted
upon at a Primary Election to be held October 24, 1972, as Councilman from
Zone 2. That the names of James M. Mackie, Jr., Carmen Montesano, and
John G. Bevel be placed on the official ballot as candidates to be voted upon
at a Primary Election to be held October 24, 1972, as Councilmen from Zone 4.
SECTION 2. That the election for each office shall be voted upon on a city
w* basis.
SECTION 3. That the names of the two candidates receiving the largest
number of votes for the office of Councilman from Zones 2 and 4 shall be

placed on the ballot for the Regular Election to be held November 7, 1972
as provided by local election laws.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and
directed to forthwith transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Supervisor -
Director of the Department of Elections for Volusia County, Florida and
that the printing of necessary ballots will be in accordance with the in-
structions of said Supervisor -Director of the Department of Elections for
Volusia County, Florida, and there will be printed absentee ballots.
SECTION 5. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 6. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and approval by the Mayor.
The foregoing resolution was presented by Councilman lai y,; .,,
who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by Councilman
Severance Upon roll call vote said resolution was duly declared adopted
at a Regular Meeting of the City Council held on the 2nd day of October, A. D.,
1972; the vote of said Council upon roll call being as follows:
