2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a.Regular Meeting - January 8, 2020
A motion was made by Mr. Wright, second by Mr. Andrejkovics, to approve Minutes of
January 8, 2020. The MOTION was APPROVED by the following vote:
Yes:George Kennedy, Robert Andrejkovics, Paul Wright, Thomas Duane, Burton Maroney,
Albert Almafitano, and Eric Rainbird

3. OLD BUSINESS-PUBLIC HEARING
None at this time.
4. NEW BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARING
a.VA-1932 - Brian Simms requesting a variance for property located at 127 Palm
Breeze Drive.
Mr. Lear provided a staff report and recommendation. Mr. Lear also advised the Board that Staff
received letters of support from the property owners to the north and south.
Chairman Kennedy opened the public hearing.
James Chambers, 1701 Palmetto Avenue DeLand, representing the property owner provided
additional background on the process of rebuilding the boathouse to date.
Mr. Andrejkovics stated he visited the property and noticed the pylings were installed. Mr.
Chambers stated the original permit inlcuded dock and boathouse, but the boathouse was removed
to proceed with variance process.
Sean O'Grady, 16 Silver Circle, stated he keeps track of the property for his brother and provided
further information on the issues they have had in the past with rebuilding the dock and boathouse.

There being no further discussion Chairman Kennedy closed the public hearing.
A motion was made by Mr. Andrejkovics, second by Mr. Wright, to approve VA-1932. The
MOTION was APPROVED by the following vote:
Yes:George Kennedy, Robert Andrejkovics, Paul Wright, Thomas Duane, Burton Maroney,
Albert Almafitano, and Eric Rainbird

b.VA-2001 - Frank Brownell requesting a variance for property located at 206 Virginia
Street.
Mr. Lear provided a staff report and recommendation which suggested the shed be located 10-feet
from the top of the canal rather than the property line.
Chairman Kennedy opened the public hearing.
Frank Brownell, 206 Virginia Street, stated he planned to install the shed 10-feet from the top of the
canal and did not have an issue with the recommendation.
Mr. Andrejkovics commented on the size of the proposed shed; Mr. Brownell stated he plans to clean
out the garage so it can be utilized for a car again.
There being no further discussion Chairman Kennedy closed the public hearing.
A motion was made by Mr. Wright, second by Mr. Maroney, to approve Planning Item No.
VA-2001 allowing a shed to be located 10-feet from the top of the bank. The MOTION was
APPROVED by the following vote:
Yes:George Kennedy, Robert Andrejkovics, Paul Wright, Thomas Duane, Burton Maroney,
Albert Almafitano, and Eric Rainbird

5. DISCUSSION ITEMS
a. Development Services Director's Report
Mr. Lear welcomed the new Board members. He then advised the Board that Samantha Bergeron,
Economic Development Coordinator will provide a report to the Board at the March or April
meeting.
b. Agency Member's Report
None at this time.
6. ADJOURN
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
