A RESOLUTION DECLARING, THE CANDIDATES FOR
THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 4 TO BE
NOMINATED AT A PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD
ON THE 22ND DAY OF OCTOBER, 1974 AND DECLARING
THE CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN
FROM ZONE 2 AND FARTHER DECLARING THAT THE
PREVAILING CANDIDATE OR CANDIDATES FROM THE
PRIMARY ELECTION FIELD ON THE 22ND DAY OF
OCTOBER, 1974 FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN
FROM ZONE 4 AND THE CANDIDATES FOR THE OFFICE
OF COUNCILMAN FROM ZONE 2 SHALL BE VOTED UPON
CITY WIDE ON THE STH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1974,
AND FURTHER PROVIDING FOR THE PREPARATION AND
PRINTING OF BALLOTS FOR SAID ELECTIONS, AND
FURTHER PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, Petitions have been filed with the City Clerk of the
City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida to have the names of
EDWARD K. CLINTON and WILLIAM H. CAIRNIE placed on the ballot as
candidates for Councilman from Zone 2; and the names of CALVIN P.
DIETZ, JOHN C. BEVEL and JAMES M. MACKIE, JR. placed on the ballot
as candidates for Councilman from Zone 4; and said petitions having
been certified by the City Clerk; and it appearing that a Primary
Election will be necessary to declare candidates for Councilman
from Zone 4.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the names of EDWARD K. CLINTON and WILLIAM H.
CAIRNIE be placed on the official ballot as candidates to be
voted upon at a General Election to be held November 5, 1974,
as Councilman from Zone 2. That the names of CALVIN R. DIETZ,
JOHN G. BEVEL and ,TAMES M. MACKIE, JR.be placed on the official
ballot as candidates to be voted upon at a Primary Election to
be held October 22, 19749 as Councilman from Zone 4.
SECTION 2. That the election for each office shall be voted upon
a city wide basis.

SECTION 3. That the names of the two candidates receiving the
largest number of votes for the office of Councilman from Zone 4
and the names of EDWARD K. CLINTON and WILLIAM H. CAIRNIE, as
candidates for the office of Councilman from Zone 2 shall be
placed on the ballot for the Regular Election to be held on
November 5, 1974 as provided by local election laws, providing,
further however that if any one candidate for Councilman of
Zone 4 shall receive more than 50% of the votes at the Rrimary
Election held October 22, 1974 his name shall be the only name
placed on the ballot for office of Councilman for Zone 4 for the
Regular Election held November 5, 1974.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized
and directed to forthwith transmit a copy of this Resolution to
the Supervisor -Director of the Department of Elections for Volusia
County, Florida and that the printing of necessary ballots will he
in accordance with the instructions of said Supervisor -Director
of the Department of Elections for volusia County, Florida, and
there will be printed absentee ballots.
SECTION S. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in con-
flict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 6. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
The foregoing Resolution was presented by Councilman Sikes
who moved .its adopting, said motion being seconded by Councilman
Bevel Upon roll call vote said Resolution was duly de-
clared adopted at a Special Meeting of the City Council held on
the 30th day of September, A.D. 1974; the vote of said Council
upon roll call being as follows:
