RESOLUTION NO. 0y
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
A WEATHER STATION IN COASTAL VOLUSIA COUNTY
AND RECOMMENDING THAT LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ADOPT
SIMILAR RESOLUTIONS, REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE THEREFOR.
WHEREAS, recreational boating has increased dramatically in this
area in the past ten years; and
WHEREAS, such boating will continue to increase in relation to
population growth which is projected to approximately double by
the year 2000; and
WHEREAS, the stabilization of Ponce de Leon Inlet has contributed
to the surge in recreational boating on inland waters and off-
shore; and
WHEREAS, the need for more timely weather reporting is quite
evident and in the best interest of residents and transients
alike;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL,OF THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, does hereby support the establishment of a weather
station in this area;
SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, recommends that other governmental bodies in Volusia
County adopt a pertinent resolution.
SECTION 3. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict
herewith be and are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
