726W O RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION FOR THE VOLUNTARY SUBMISSION TO THE VOLUSIA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (VCOG) OF PROPOSED COMPREHENSIVE PLANS OR ELEMENTS OR PORTION THEREOF THAT ARE PREPARED PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF CHAPTER 75-257, FLORIDA COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ACT; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Volusia Council of Governments was created pursuant to Florida Statute 163.02, as a voluntary areawide planning organization for Volusia County, Florida; and WHEREAS, Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, specified that the VOOG has the power to promote cooperative arrangements and coordinate action among its members; and WHEREAS, that the coordination function can be best fulfilled if its member governments' proposed comprehensive plans or elements or portions thereof are submitted to the VCOG for review and comment pursuant to the Florida Comprehensive Planning Act requirements; and WHEREAS, the VCOG has created an Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee composed of a local planning agency member from each member government for the purpose of reviewing the comprehensive plans or elements or portions thereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER FLORIDA: Section 1. The City of Edgewater, Florida will henceforth voluntarily submit its proposed comprehensive plan, or proposed element, or completed portion thereof to the VCOG- Section 2. The review of said plan or element or a portion thereof shall be made according to the provisions of the "Local Government Comprehensive Planning Act of 1975" and by adoption of this Resolution, the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be in compliance with the said Act and specifically with Florida Statute 163.3167(8). 7a G r IN 0 Section 3. The VCOG comments shall be considered prior to the adoption of the comprehensive plan or element of portion thereof. The City of Edgewater, however, may adopt, or adopt with changes or amendments, the proposed comprehensive plan or element or portion thereof despite any adverse comments received from the VCOG. Section 4. That all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby rescinded. Section 5. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided by law.
