Jones City Clerk P. O. Box 38 Edgewater, Florida 32032 Dear Miss Jones: The President has asked me to thank you for the resolution by the City Counci I of the City of Edgewater concerning the labor dispute on the Florida East Coast Railway. You understand, I am sure, that the Government cannot dictate the terms of settlement, even in a prolonged dispute such as this one. Both our laws and our traditionally democratic practices require that the Government serve strictly in the role of mediator and conciliator, seeking an agreement fair and equitable to all. To this end, the administration has used and is continuing to use its good offices In behalf of settlement of the issue. The views of the City Council are appreciated. Sincerely yours, James eyn.lds Assistant retary of Labor
