Proclamation - Special Election - 07-30-1965A PROCLAMATION PROVIDING FOR THE
CALLING AND HOLDING OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA TO PRESENT FOR
APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL CERTAIN LEGISLATION;
SAID SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE
30TH DAY OF JULY, A.D. 1965 IN THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER
WHEREAS, a special election is required to be held in+.the year 1965,
for the purpose of approval or disapproval of the following House Bills:
1. #529 An act amending section 8 of chapter 27532 Laws of
Florida, special acts of 1951 as amended by chapter 29049 Laws of Florida, special
acts of 1953, and chapter 1310 Laws of Florida, special acts of 1963; being the charter
of the city of Edgewater, of Volusia County, Florida, by amending section 8 to
provide that the mayor may act as mayor -manager and setting his compensation
therefor; providing a referendum therefor;and providing for an effective date.
2. #530 An act amending section 8 of chapter 27532 Laws of
Florida, special acts of 1951; as amended by Chapter 29049, Laws of Florida,
special acts of 1953; and chaptef 1310 Laws of Florida, special acts of 1963;
being the charter of the city of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, by amending
section 8 to provide that each councilman must reside in the voting district which
he seeks to represent and be elected at large by the qualified voters of the
city of Edgewater; and providing a referendum therefor; andrproviding for an
effective date.
3. #531 An act amending section 26 and 27 of chapter
27532 Laws of Florida, special acts of 1951, being the charter of the city
of Edgewater, in Volusia County, Florida, by amending section 26 to provide
for a municipal judge, and by amending section 27 by deleting the term 14aayor^
therefrom; providing a referendum therefor; and providing for an effective date.
4. #532 An act amending section 8 of chapter 27532, Laws of
Florida, special acts of 1951; as amended by chapter 29049, Laws of Florida,
special acts of 1953; and chapter 1310, Laws of Florida, special acts of 1963;
being the charter of the city of Edgewater, in Volusia County, Florida, by
amending section 8 to increase the compensation of the city council and mayor;
providing a referendum therefor; and providing for an effective date.
5. #533 An act amending section 8 of chapter 27532, Laws
of Florida, special acts of 1951; as amended by chapter 29049, Laws of Florida,
special acts of 1953, and chapter 1310, Laws of Florida, special acts of 1963;
being the charter of the city of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, by amending
section 8 to provide that the city council may define the existing voting ditricts
by ordinance; and limiting said redistricting to not more than one (1) time each
biennium; providing a referendum therefor; and providing for an effective date.

of Florida, Special Acts of 1951, as amended by chapter 29049, Laws of Florida,
Special Acts of 1953, and chapter 1310 Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1963,
being the charter of the city of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida, by amending
section 8 to provide that the city council may define the existing voting districts
by ordinance, and limiting said redistricting to not more than one time each biennium,
providing a referendum therefor and providing for an effective date.
All bills are presented as ppgsed-dt the 1965 session of the legislature of the
State of Florida.
NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGWATER,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City
of Edgewater, Florida does hereby call, declare and proclaim that a Special
Election will be held in the City of Edgewater between the legal hours of
7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. as provi.ded.by the laws of the State of Florida, on
Friday, July 30th, 1965 for approval or disapproval of the above Bills.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
post two copies of the notice of said special election in the most conspicuous
and public places in the City of Edgewater, Florida, one of which shall be
the bulletin board in the City Hall of said City.
SECTION 3. Said Special Election shall be held in the Comumunity Center
in the City of Edgewater, Florida.
SECTION 4. A certified copy of this Proclamation shall be sent to
Supt. of Registration, Volusia County, Florida.
The above and foregoing Proclamation was introduced at the Special Meeting
of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, held on July 15th, 1965
said Proclamation being introduced by Councilman Tingle who moved its
adoption, which said }ration was seconded by Councilman Ridedill and
carried; the vote of said council being as follows:
